164 articlesUnlocking the Runestone at Saltheril’s Soiree in WoW‘s Eversong Woods is a multi step process that involves working through several quests, collecting Latent Arcana from both quests and open world collectibles, and then defending the Runestone once it is charged up. It is not something you can just stumble into, and without knowing the full chain ahead of time it is easy to miss a step and find yourself stuck.
In this guide, I will walk you through every quest and NPC in the exact order you need to follow, with coordinates for everything, so you can get the Runestone unlocked without having to figure it out as you go.
How to Unlock Runestone at Saltheril’s Soiree (Eversong)
There are quite a few quests involved in unlocking the Runestone so make sure to follow along carefully and not skip anything. I will provide you with the exact coordinates of every single NPC you need to interact with so this should make things easier for you.
Saltheril’s Haven Quest
To get started, head to Silvermoon City and make your way to the Bazaar. Once you are there, look for an NPC called Jonas Everdawn. Speak to him to pick up the quest called Saltheril’s Haven. This is the starting point for the entire chain so do not skip past him. I have marked his exact location in the image below for reference, his coordinates are 45.76, 62.66.

After picking up the quest, make your way to Saltheril’s Haven which is located near Fairbreeze Village. The coordinates are 42.70, 47.27. I have marked the location in the image below as well. Once you arrive, look for Lord Saltheril and interact with him to complete the Saltheril’s Haven quest. He will immediately follow up with another quest called Honored Guests. Make sure to accept it before moving forward.
Honored Guests Quest
To complete the Honored Guests quest, you need to interact with four specific NPCs in any given order. All four of them are located within Silvermoon City. Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Head to the Sunwing Rookery and speak with Ranger-Captain Dawnfletch to extend her invitation. Her exact coordinates are 24.37, 71.52.
- Next, make your way to Thalassian University and talk to Magistrix Bloodflame. You will find her at coordinates33.64, 51.21.
- After that, head to the Sanctum of Light and interact with Knight-Lord Sunguard to invite him to the soiree. His coordinates are 44.66, 72.02.
- Finally, make your way to The Silver Chalice Sanctuary and speak with Vyrin the Supplier. He is located at coordinates 52.79, 63.35.
Once you have invited all four NPCs, head back to Saltheril’s Haven and speak with Lord Saltheril again to turn in the Honored Guests quest. His coordinates are 42.70, 47.27 in case you need a reminder. He will immediately offer you a follow up quest called High Esteem. Accept it to move forward.
High Esteem Quest
For the High Esteem quest, you need to visit and interact with four vendors located near Saltheril’s Haven. They are all clustered close together so you should not have to travel far between each one. The general coordinates for the area are 43.50, 47.55. Here are the four vendors which you need to visit:
- Magister Vendor
- Blood Knight Vendor
- Farstrider Vendor
- Row Vendor
After interacting with all four vendors, head back to Lord Saltheril and speak with him. He will present you with a choice. You will be asked to select one faction to invite to the soiree from four options: the Magisters, the Blood Knights, the Fastriders, and the Shades of the Row. Selecting a faction will increase your reputation with them but will lower it with the others, so think about which faction you like the best. Once you have made your decision, click on the “Send Invitation” option to confirm your choice. For the purpose of this guide I went with the Blood Knights.
After making your faction choice, speak to Lord Saltheril again to complete the High Esteem quest. He will then hand you a new quest called The Subtle Game.
The Subtle Game Quest
For The Subtle Game quest, Lord Saltheril will ask you to distribute three tokens to representatives of the factions gathered near Saltheril’s Haven. The NPCs you need to hand the tokens to are all located in the same general area so you will not have to travel far. Head to each one, interact with them, and hand over the token. Here are the exact coordinates of each NPC you need to visit:
- Ranger-Captain Dawnfletch (42.87, 46.42).
- Magistrix Boodflame (42.62, 46.18).
- Vyrin the Supplier (42.82, 45.67).
After handing over the tokens, head back to Lord Saltheril to turn over the quest.
Fortify The Runestones: Blood Knights Quest
After completing The Subtle Game quest, head back to the representative of the faction you invited during the High Esteem quest. All the faction representatives are located near Saltheril’s Haven so you will not have to go far. Speak with your chosen faction’s representative and they will offer you the “Fortify The Runestones” quest. The specific version of the quest you receive will depend on which faction you invited earlier.
Since I went with the Blood Knights in this guide, I spoke with Knight-Lord Sunguard who gave me the Fortify The Runestones: Blood Knights quest. If you chose a different faction, simply find their representative in the same area and the quest name will reflect your choice.
Before we move further on with this quest, we need to collect Latent Arcana by completing a few more quests.
Put A Little Snap In Their Step Quest
Talk to Ranger-Captain Dawnfletch to get this quest. She is located near Saltheril’s Haven, her coordinates are 42.84, 46.44.
After picking up the quest, make your way to Daggerspine Landing in Eversong Woods. The coordinates are 37.04, 62.85. Once you arrive, you will need to tag eight Daggerspine Snapdragons using the Discordant Tune (quest item) that you got by starting the quest. Work your way through the area and use the item on each Snapdragon you encounter until you have tagged eight. After that, head back to Ranger-Captain Dawnfletch to turn in the quest
Light Snacks Quest
Next you need to talk to Magistrix Bloodflame to get the Light Snacks quest. You will find her near Saltheril’s Haven at these coordinates: 42.63, 46.19.
After accepting the quest, make your way to coordinates 44.61, 79.53 in Eversong Woods. Once you arrive, you need to siphon six Scintillant Wyrms in the area. Work through them one by one until you have siphoned all six. After that, head back to Magistrix Bloodflame to turn in the quest.
Dangerous Showpieces Quest
Finally, talk to Vyrin the Supplier to get the quest called Dangerous Showpieces. You can find him near Saltheril’s Haven at the following coordinates: 42.84, 45.67.
To complete this quest, you need to collect six Twilight Weaponry items. These are dropped by Twilight mobs found in the Sanctum of the Moon. Head to coordinates 43.48, 68.75 to find them. The mobs in this area drop the Twilight Weaponry pretty easily so you should have no trouble farming six.
Once you have collected all six, head back to Vyrin the Supplier and hand over the items. After that, talk to him again to mark the quest completed.
Collect Latent Arcana From Coalesced Light
After collecting Latent Arcana from the quests, you still need to gather four more that are available as open world collectibles scattered across Eversong Woods. These are not tied to any quest and can be picked up freely. Here are the exact coordinates of all four:
- First Latent Arcana: 45.15, 58.09.
- Second Latent Arcana: 44.80, 59.91.
- Third Latent Arcana: 47.67, 63.14.
- Final Latent Arcana: 47.21, 61.70.
Defend the Runestone
Now that you have all the Latent Arcana, you can head to Tranquil Repose in the Eversong Woods to reach the Runestone. The coordinates are 47.32, 58.66. I have also marked the location of the Runestone in the image below.
Once you have collected all the Latent Arcana, head to the Runestone and interact with it. You will see a “Charge” option. Click on it to use your Latent Arcana and power up the Runic Shield protecting the Runestone.
With the shield active, waves of enemies will begin attacking the Runestone. Your job is to defend it and keep the shield from dropping. If the shield does go down during the fight, interact with the Runestone again and recharge it immediately using any remaining Latent Arcana you have. Keep the shield up, fend off the attackers, and once all the waves are cleared, the questline will be complete.
