As the name lets you know, this key is used to open up a gym. More specifically, it’s for the Area 05 School’s gymnasium. It being locked up might just mean there are some nice supplies still left inside, so it’s worth checking out!
In this quick guide, I’ll tell you how to find and use the Gym Key.
Where to Find the Gym Key
Let’s start with the bad news! The Gym Key, also known as “Gym. K.”, seems to be a completely random item. That means that there are no guaranteed spots where you can go and get it every time.

Road to Vostok School Map GuideApr 10, 2026Instead, you’ll just need to loot as many places as you can. It seems to spawn in the Village (Area 05) zone most often, but it could also possibly spawn in the School (Area 05) zone.
Either way, though, it is classified as a Legendary item. As such, don’t expect it to be a common sight.
So, ultimately, finding the Gym Key is down to pure luck. You just have to check as many containers as possible, particularly in the Village and School in Area 05. Good thing you already want to loot every container in the game for supplies anyway, right?
How and Where to Use the Gym Key
When you manage to get the Gym Key, you’ll need to head to the School in Area 05. You can most easily reach it by taking the leftmost exit out of the Village (Area 05), using your starting cabin as a reference point. The exit looks like the example above.
If you want to just go to the School from your cabin, just go straight left as soon as you exit the cabin. Then, walk along the area limit until you reach the exit to the School area. You’re unlikely to encounter hostiles doing this, too.
Once you reach the School, walk to the large central school building and go inside. Do be warned, hostiles often roam inside!
Enter the main building through the main entrance and you should see a dark brown door right in front of you. That’s the door to the Gymnasium. Walk up to it and interact to use your Gym key and open it up. All done!
That’s all you need to do to find and use the Gym Key in Road to Vostok. Finding the key is purely luck reliant, but at least now you know what to look out for and where to use it.
