With the release of the major Invaders of Oakveil patch, V Rising has added all kinds of unique enemies and bosses, various features to add to your base, a risk free dueling system, additional weapons, spells, and more. In this short progression guide, we will try to give you a few tips on how you should approach the game as an entirely new player on your own or with a friend.

V Rising 1.1 – Progression Guide for Solos & Duos

Funnily enough, most of the progress is still roughly the same, so if you have played the game before, just keep doing what you have been doing in the early game as you always have. You will be completely fine unless you are in a very sweaty PVP server.

On the other hand, if you are completely new, then this guide might help you structure your goals a little better. At the end of the day though, you are completely free to explore at your own pace. The game has gotten a ton of changes, so it is way too early for people to form the “most efficient” path.

At the start, just focus on unlocking as many new things as you can. Kill the V Blood Carriers all around the first zone in the order you can comfortably do them in. Slay the white wolf immediately and go after Keely the Frost Archer as early as possible.

After that, go ahead and build up your initial base first so that you have an area to fall back on and craft or store stuff. When you are all settled in, head to the copper mine and start mining some. Beat Errol the Stonebreaker while you are here, as this will let you unlock Chaos Volley as soon as possible.

Next, find a merciless copper weapon recipe so that you can increase your gear score and make it easier to fight the rest of the first zone bosses. Goreswine the Ravager or Lidia the Chaos Archer are good choices at this point. Do not forget to go after Grayson the Armourer as well.

By around the time you can start farming iron, you should try to smelt them as fast as possible while also gathering up a lot of cotton. Every time you head out, make sure to gather either or both of these as much as you can so that you can progress to the next tier quickly.

Continue clearing all of the V Blood carriers in the order of their levels. As soon as you are high enough to get to the Dunley Farmlands, do not forget to rush Beatrice the Tailor. You are going to need her so that you can actually start working with cotton.

Your goal as you progress into the Dunley Farmlands is to build up a set of Hollowfang armor as quickly as you can. This will make clearing the rest of this region a breeze, especially once you have iron weapons of your choice as well.

Make sure to defeat Nicholaus the Fallen if you have not already done so, as you are going to need the paper press for the new content. For more information as to why you might want that, check out our guide on how the redistribution system works in V Rising and learn more about schematic farming.

You are also going to want to make a scourgestone pendant to raise your gear score and make an upgraded version that suits your build and playstyle. Needless to say, you should kill Leandra the Shadow Priestess for this.

Hunt down the vampire hunter Tristan as well. Unlocking his recipe for Greater Blood essence is going to be pretty useful, and Blood Hunger will allow you to start hunting down some good prisoners to feed off of.

Finally, one more thing to consider while you are at this zone is to hunt down Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier. He is a recent addition to the game and is found at the Horse Racing Track. Defeating him will unlock the new Stables structure that will let you improve your mounts, which have been reworked in this patch.

Later on, as you head out into Gloomrot, you should continue beating V Blood carriers and farming up resources that you are going to need later on. Find some spots to farm stuff like tech scrap, mutant grease, pristine hide, and batteries.

If you have a duo partner, you could split up and focus on farming two different regions by this point. One of you should focus on clearing and farming Gloomrot, while the other heads over to the Cursed Forest to do the same.

From this point on, just keep farming up to the next tier and build your Dawnthorn armor set as early as possible. This will help you work towards making a silver weapon and a blood merlot amulet. Along the way, farm some tier 1 rift incursions whenever you can.

After all of that, you are now slowly inching your way towards the new Oakveil content. From there, you can take your own path to farming the late game stuff and work your way to the endgame bosses.

Just do everything you can to unlock and build the highest tier armor and weapons in the game. By now, you should also already have a strong build that you have grown comfortable using over the many hours that it takes to get to this point.

And that is a wrap for this progression guide as we have only given you a very general list of suggestions and goals to go for as you start the game. Part of the fun in progressing through it is figuring out your own build and playstyle, so explore the game at your own pace and work your way towards defeating Dracula at the very end.
