With the recent release of the juicy new Invaders of Oakveil patch, V Rising has just gotten a wide range of new enemies, endgame challenges, base structures, a duel mechanic for friendly PVP, a bunch of weapons, spells, and many more. In this guide, we will go through some tips you can follow to make your longbow do a lot of damage.
V Rising 1.1 – Max Damage Longbow Build Guide
Before you get started, know that this is a very specialized community build that uses some specific modifiers on jewels and gear. This means that a lot of RNG is involved if you want to copy if 1:1, which may be a bit of a futile effort sometimes.
Instead, this will just contain some general tips to try and achieve as much damage as you can. This is also mainly a build for PVE, so do not expect this to perform well against other players if you are on a PVP server.
First, you obviously want a powerful longbow for this. Your ancestral bow should have bonus physical power, weapon skill power, and weapon attack speed. Some critical chance could be useful too, at the expense of more reliable raw damage output.
As far as early to mid game goes, focus on stacking up as much attack speed as you can. The longbow has a painfully slow attack animation, so anything that speeds it up will also boost your damage output and help you stay on the move.
Just progress through the typical armor upgrade pipeline as you normally would. For accessories, try to get something that will increase spell power and / or weapon skill power.
In terms of blood type, your main priority is to get 100% rogue for the very obvious benefit of maximizing your critical chance and damage, as well as adding more mobility since your weapon forces you to plant yourself on the ground ever so often.
If you get the means to infuse it with a secondary blood type, consider using brute for bonus attack speed and physical power. Warrior can be an option too if that is your only option at the moment.
With this setup, you are going to have a decent chance to trigger physical crits and further amplify your damage if the expose mechanic is activated. On top of that, this build also takes advantage of veil modifiers, so the faster cooldown and guaranteed critical hit after using a veil will help a lot.
Ability Choices and Jewel Modifiers
For abilities, you will want to use veil of blood so that you can get some leech as well. For this, you will want a jewel that will give you a physical damage buff after hitting an enemy affected by leech. Of course, having an additional bonus that makes your next primary attack stronger is also great.
If you can roll for a jewel that applies a snaring effect, even better. This will help you compensate for the weapon’s lack of mobility, even if your build is already “online”, so to speak.
You could also settle for a veil of storm or veil of illusion for the snare, if that is what you have. As long as it also increases the output of your next primary attack, you can still achieve pretty close damage numbers as the blood veil setup.
Lightning curtain or ball lightning for your next ability will allow you to apply static to enemies, slightly increasing your damage output as you hit them with physical attacks. With the curtain, try to get a jewel with increased damage per hit and the snare effect.
For the ball lightning, just try to increase its damage per shock. An early detonation modifier can also be useful so that you can add a bit of burst damage on top of the static affliction.
Finally, power surge under the chaos magic tree will help increase your output even without a jewel, as it boosts your attack speed and lets you ignite enemies for a bit of extra damage that adds up over time.
If you do finally get a jewel for it, aim for modifiers that further increase your attack speed and physical damage output while it is active. Having the modifier that reduces its cooldown after a lethal attack can be pretty useful too, particularly against large groups of mobs.
Of course, you should also try to get the modifier that increases its duration by as much as possible. All of these modifiers together, if RNGesus permits, will make it an incredibly powerful spell that you should use off cooldown.
Elixirof the raven or werewolf can help you squeeze even more damage into the build. Prowler is a decent option too if you are struggling with mobility, though this will barely increase your damage output
The effect of the prowler elixir is only really that useful if you consider slightly faster veil cooldowns “more damage”. For a more consistent setup, stick to werewolf or raven.
Overall, this build is pretty flexible as the main priority is going to be getting the necessary stats to maximize your damage output. It can be further refined to tailor to your specific playstyle and ability preferences.
You could possibly do some nutty damage with a heavier focus on unholy magic as condemn will amplify any attack type while also letting you summon some adds as meat shields or have them deal a small but not insignificant amount of damage.
Veil of bones in particular can be a niche choice that not only lets you apply condemn and add a bit of self sustain to your build, but it can also be used for executing low hp enemies. This will require you to get the modifier that heavily increases your damage against enemies under 20% hp.
And that wraps up this guide, which is mainly just a bunch of recommendations you can try out to maximize your longbow’s damage output. Again, this is only for PVE and may be a bit of a weak build against players.
