Unidentified Contaminant Exploration Codex Guide for Throne & Liberty

“Unidentified Contaminant” is one of the Exploration Codex entries for the Windhill Shores region in Throne & Liberty.

It seems that the shore near the Spiral Cliff is home to a strange contaminant. Thankfully, there’s already a researcher working on identifying and clearing it from the environment. However, she needs your help to succeed!

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to help the Windhill Shores Researcher for the “Unidentified Contaminant” Exploration Codex quest.

Unidentified Contaminant Exploration Codex | Throne & Liberty Guide

There are 4 different objectives for the “Unidentified Contaminant” Exploration Codex in Throne & Liberty, but all 4 of them must be done in order. So, to start, you must first talk to the Windhill Shores Researcher at Spiral Cliff. Her location is marked on the map above.

If you have trouble finding the researcher, look around the eastern side of the Spiral Cliff. The researcher will be near the cliff edge, overlooking the area below.

After the conversation, your second objective is to acquire a Magical Reagent. Thankfully, the Magical Reagent is right next to the researcher! Just interact with the nearby shelf to pick it up.

As soon as you pick up the Magical Reagent, the next objective starts. You have to Glide Morph onto the shore below and spray the Magical Reagent on the Unidentified Contaminant. We’ve marked the location of the Unidentified Contaminant for you in the image above. It’s directly east of the Spiral Cliff.

Any Glide Morph works for this, thankfully, including the basic Eagle Morph you start the game with. However, you do have to reach the Unidentified Contaminant within 1 minute of picking up the Magical Reagent. You also have to avoid touching seawater. Don’t dilly-dally!

Interact with the Unidentified Contaminant upon landing to complete the objective. It seems the contaminant was a Large Stone Crab all along!

Deal With The Large Enemy Crab

Last but not least, your final objective is to defeat a Large Stone Crab while it’s wet from either rain or seawater. Large Stone Crabs spawn on the shore by the Spiral Cliff, so you can do it right after spraying the Unidentified Contaminant.

The fastest way to complete the objective is to attack a Large Stone Crab to aggro it, then rush into the seawater yourself. The Large Stone Crab will follow you automatically and get wet. Get out of the water and kill it to complete the objective. Just keep in mind that the objective won’t count as completed if the Large Stone Crab isn’t wet.
