With The Cycle: Frontier finally out of Early Access, it’s not surprising that a lot of new players are eager to try the game. If there’s one thing that experienced players can advise the new ones, it’s to practice the skill of killing the Marauders as early as possible.

If you’re unfamiliar, the Marauders (likewise known as Jeff) are these large and scary blue monsters you can encounter in the game. They mostly spawn in areas that contain a lot of valuable loot, so as a player, you’ll want to take them out as quickly as possible so you can get your hands on some amazing items.

That said, this guide will show you how you can quickly and efficiently kill Marauders.

How to Kill Marauders Guide in The Cycle: Frontier

The key to efficiently killing Marauders is to learn their attack patterns. Luckily, they only have two attack types: a ranged spit and a charged swipe. Let’s talk about their ranged spit attack first.

The ranged spit attack can be one of the two patterns. First is the meatball lob in which a Marauder throws a meatball at you which then explodes on the ground on impact. This will leave acid on the ground, so it’s best to stay clear of this attack’s area of effect.

The second is the spit beam in which a Marauder shots a spit in a straight line. It will slow you down and causes you to take tick damage if it hits you.

Now for the charged swipe attack. When a Marauder performs this attack, it will charge straight at you and then stops right in the front followed by a roar and a swipe attack. If you get hit by the lunge and swipe, you will take a lot of damage. Luckily, this attack pattern is quite easy to get familiar with.

Countering the Marauders

Going up against a Marauder in even terrain can be quite tricky. Luckily, there are some ways to make the fight easier. First and foremost, you have to make sure that there are no other creatures nearby. Once the fight starts, a Jeff will perform its meatball lob attack which is then followed by a charge. When a Jeff charges and stops in front of you, it will open its mouth to roar.

At this point, you have to hit the critical area on the mouth to deal significant damage. One thing to keep in mind is that doing so will cause it to stagger, though it doesn’t work all of the time. It seems that there’s a limit to how many staggers a Marauder can get.

After shooting the critical spot on its mouth, run away as fast as you can and wait for the Marauder to perform the attack sequence again. Just keep on doing the same method until you eventually kill it.
