Getting started on your first base in Sunkenland can be difficult. Not knowing how or where to build can make all the difference between success and failure in this game. While we do respect players who figure out the best ways themselves, we also believe games are meant to be relaxing and fun.

That is why today, we’ll give you a guide on how to build your base in Sunkenland so you can pave your way to success on the first playthrough! Without further stalling, let’s get to it!

Getting started

If you played Sunkenland before, you probably noticed there are a bunch of islands scattered throughout the map that you can visit. A logical question to ask following this observation is, why do I need to build a base anyway? Why not build on the island?

As much as we would like for it to be that easy, Sunkenland is all about being creative and making do with what little land there is left in the world. Making your little floating piece of land is at the heart of this game. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Besides, none of your essential items like the grill or farming pots can be built on land. They must be placed on the platform of your base!

Building your first base

To get started, click the B-key to open up the building menu. Here you will need to select which materials you wish to use and start placing the platform slabs in the sea. The materials you want to use depend entirely on your strategy, but we will cover that in another guide.

For now, focus on placing your first slabs in the sea so that you may start building further items essential to your survival.

Once the base platform is complete, you can then start building items such as crafting stations, a grill, furniture, decorations, or defenses depending on what you want your base to look like.

Sunkenland is all about creativity, feel free to let your imagination run wild to build your perfect base!

Second floor?

In case you run out of room on your base, don’t worry. You can always build further upward by selecting the columns and floors that you will place on the said columns. The possibilities are endless when you think about it!

Finally, build a ladder to climb onto the second floor and continue upgrading your base!

Removing items

When and if you decide you want to remove something from your base, there are two options you can choose from.

Firstly, you can use any weapon that deals damage. Hitting the object enough times will cause that item to be destroyed.

The second, more effective option, is to use a repairing hammer which can instantly demolish items. A much faster and more efficient alternative.
