Crimson Iron Ore is one of the new resources you’ll need to get in the Settlers of Kalguur expansion for POE (Path of Exile).

This ore seems to have been affected by corruption, creating a unique alloy unlike any other. Despite the dangers of mining it, it can be particularly useful to you as it’s the primary upgrade material for some buildings in Kingsmarch!

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get as much Crimson Iron Ore as you need with ease.

How to Get Crimson Iron Ore | Important Setup and Mining at Kingsmarch

Raulf the Recruiter location

The first method you can use is to automatically get Crimson Iron Ore at the new Kingsmarch town added in Settlers of Kalguur for POE. To start, though, you’ll need to hire some miners! This will also be required for you to use an alternate manual method later on.

First, go to the management building in the northern corner of Kingsmarch and talk to Raulf, the Recruiter.

Miners Icon

Then, hire any workers with any Mining ability. You can tell which workers have the Mining ability by looking for the pickaxe-shaped icons. The number denotes their Mining Rank as well, with higher-ranked miners being faster but requiring higher wages.

While you’re in the management building, you should also speak to Johan and add gold to the treasury. It will be required to pay for the workers’ wages later!

Mining station Location

Once you’ve hired some Miners, you’ll also need to unlock the Mining station in Kingsmarch. It’s on the leftmost side of the town, as shown above.

Assigning the Miners

Manage Miners

With the Mining station built, interact with the board out in front of the building. Click on the “Manage Workers” icon there, which is the one that looks like a person’s bust with a plus sign.

Mining Crimson Iron

Lastly, assign any workers with the Mining ability to your Mining station. They’ll automatically start mining Crimson Iron Ore at this point. That said, you can also click on the drop-down under their name to change which type of ore they mine. There aren’t any other options if you’ve just built the mining station, though.

Productivity Overview

You can also check their progress and mining rate from this same billboard. Miners will start at a rate of 60 Crimson Iron Ore per hour. Just remember to have gold in your treasury to pay for their wages as well. Workers will stop working if you can’t pay!

This isn’t the only way to get Crimson Iron Ore in the Settlers of Kalguur expansion for POE, however. As we mentioned before, there’s also a manual method that becomes available after you’ve already set up the Mining station. Let’s go over that now as well.

Finding Ore Nodes in the World Manually

Crimson Iron Vein

The manual way to get Crimson Iron Ore in POE is to find the randomly-spawning nodes added with the Settlers of Kalguur expansion. These Crimson Iron Ore nodes, like the one shown above, can be found in pretty much any area right now. That said, their spawns are random so there are no guaranteed spots for them.

Do note that you need to have hired at least one miner at Kingsmarch for this to work. Make sure that you followed the setup steps in the previous part of this guide.

Corrupted Growth combat

Once you manage to find one of these nodes, interact with it to start a short event. A set of rafflesia-like “Corrupted Growths” will appear around the Crimson Iron node. Defeat the enemies it spawns and take out the flowers to complete the short event!

Miners appear

After you eliminate the enemies and growths, a portal will appear and Kingsmarch’s miners will emerge. They’ll automatically gather the Crimson Iron Ore for you, so your task here is completed.

You now know everything there is to know about mining this new Crimson Iron Ore in the Settlers of Kalguur expansion for POE. You can use this resource to further upgrade your Mining station in Kingsmarch, unlocking more ore types and better miners!
