Path of Exile: What’s Changed for Patch 3.19 | Everything You Need to Know
Patch 3.19 of Path of Exile introduces major changes into the game’s mechanics, ranging from buffs and nerfs to overhauled uniques, new league mechanics, and more.
Patch 3.19 is finally out, alongside the new Lake of Kalandra league. As with most expansions in Path of Exile, this one comes with a handful of major changes as well.
Let’s have a look at what those changes are and what you can expect when playing the game.
What’s Changed for Patch 3.19 | Everything You Need to Know in Path of Exile
The highlight of Patch 3.19 is, of course, the new league called Lake of Kalandra. However, players who prefer playing in Standard will still notice the changes in the game minus the new league mechanic. As for the new league, you will come across Mirrored Tablets throughout your journey in the game.
What you’re going to do is place reflections of encounters at certain locations in order to build up the tablets. These encounters will then feature challenges that will give you appropriate rewards depending on the difficulty.
League mechanics aside, let’s have a look at the other changes that were implemented in patch 3.19.
New Atlas Memories
GGG has introduced a separate Atlas tree back in the Atlas of Worlds expansion. This allows players to customize the way they farm. In patch 3.19, however, they can now add the new Atlas Memories which allow them to play the endgame without even speccing into their Atlas tree.
As you go mapping, you’ll come across Memory items that are quite rare. These items will help you relive memories of certain NPCs such as Alva, Einhar, and Niko. You can use these items to grant you maps that you have to explore in order to relive these NPCs’ past events.
Needless to say, you can get nice rewards depending on how difficult the challenges are. If you don’t want to run these items, you can instead trade them with other players for some extra currency.
Trickster Ascendancy Rework and Minion Balance
The Trickster has always been one of the strongest ascendancies in the game. However, patch 3.19 has made overhauls to its skill nodes. Now, the Trickster focuses more on establishing defenses and manipulating speed.
Another notable update is the changes to minion itemization. Previously, minions have way higher base stats to compensate for their lack of gear options. Now, their base life and damage have both been reduced, but players now have more options to gear up their minions.
This could potentially increase their overall damage and survivability than it used to before.
Changes to Divine and Exalted Orbs
Previously, you can craft various powerful mods into a rare item via the crafting bench using Exalted Orbs. A few good examples of these are “Suffixes cannot be Changed”, “Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers”, and “Prefixes cannot be Changed”.
However, changes to the game in the current patch now allow you to craft those mods using Divine Orbs instead. This means that Exalted Orbs are no longer as valuable as they used to be. In fact, data from POE Ninja reveal that Exalted Orbs now only have a value of 10 Chaos Orbs whereas Divine Orbs are now worth 90 Chaos Orbs and still growing.
At the same time, this also means that getting a Divine Orb is now way harder than before. Previously, you can just sell a 6-link item to a vendor to get a Divine Orb. However, it no longer has any vendor recipe, and the only way to get it is from a drop or via card divinations.
Reworked Unique Items
The problem with unique items back then was that most of them lack the identity that truly make them “unique”. Instead, they’re quite underwhelming and only added to more clutter in the players’ inventory. With the new update, various unique items now have a much more distinctive feature which makes them even more exciting to obtain.
In line with this, their drop rates have been lowered in order to make them truly “unique” items and not just rares that you can get along the way. More than a hundred unique items have undergone these changes, and you can expect to notice that once you get one to drop.
