Path of Exile 2 is out in early access right now, and it has around half of the content that it is going to have by release. Once you make it to the third act, you can do various side quests that involve you delving into the jungle, such as The Slithering Dead. In this guide, we will be showing you how to complete it!
How to Get Venom Draught for The Slithering Dead Quest
The Slithering Dead starts when you first enter the Venom Crypts area while roaming around in the Jungle Ruins of act 3. Your only objective at the beginning is to explore the area, so just run around until something interesting catches your eye.
Eventually, you will find a small room called the Den of the Serpent Priestess. As soon as you enter it, you will get a quest popup telling you to “Search the Corpse”, which you should be able to spot at the middle of the room marked by green text.
Interact with the aforementioned corpse and an item known as Corpse-Snake Venom should appear on the ground. Pick this up and you will then be asked to talk to Servi.
Return to the Ziggurat Encampment, preferably by teleporting back to town to save some time. There, you should go and talk to Servi, who will tell you to drink one of three venom draughts, which all have varying effects.
NOTE: Some players have reported that they just can’t seem to get this quest to start. We have no idea what may be causing it or how to fix it, though you could try to reset the instance to see if that helps. We have a guide on how to reset instances that will help you with that.
Each of the venom draughts will provide a different passive bonus to you, and this is a permanent buff to your character. The catch is that you can only pick one of them, and you can’t go back on that choice. Here are the options:
Venom Draught of Stone – This will give you a 25% increased stun threshold.
Venom Draught of the Veil – Drinking this will grant you a 30% increased elemental ailment threshold.
Venom Draught of Clarity – Finally, this option will give you a 25% increased mana regeneration rate buff.
As for which one to pick, that will be entirely dependent on your build and playstyle. There is no “wrong” option unless you are min-maxing, so just pick whichever you think is going to benefit you the most in the long run.
That is pretty much everything you need to know about this little side quest in the game. If you are one of the unlucky players who just can’t get it to show up for you, just wait for another patch to roll out. Remember, the game is still very early access and stuff is bound to break!
