Gear & Stats
When it comes to gear, you’ll want to get equipment that boosts the following stats:

When looking for those stats in particular, the best possible combination is an Attuned Wand and a Crystal Focus for your weapons. For other gear, you might want to get the Jewelled Gloves and Chain Tiara if possible. Though, of course, this is all going to depend purely on what random loot you get!
Nonetheless, you want to primarily focus on increasing all damage dealt by your Lightning Spells as well as everything related to Critical Hits. That’s what makes the Critical Arc Sorceress build really work in Path of Exile 2, after all.
Skill Gems
When it comes to your Skill Gems, you’re primarily going for Arc but that takes until Level 14. Before you get to Level 14, use other Lightning Spells such as Spark. You could even just try surviving using purely your weapon’s attack, too!
When you get to Level 14, you want to start going for the following Skill and Support Gems setup:
- Arc – Your bread and butter for this build. It’s somewhat slower than other spells, but the Lightning can chain through enemies to quickly obliterate groups.
- Support 1: Unleash
- Support 2: Ambush
- Orb of Storms – Summons a large Lightning orb that chains electricity through nearby enemies. It pairs up really well with Arc, as it has a similar chaining effect.
- Support 1: Magnified Effect
- Support 2: Coursing Current
- Conductivity – Casts a cursing sigil that applies Lightning Exposure to all targets in the area. This lowers their Lightning Resistance. You’ll primarily want to use this to weaken Elites and Bosses.
- Support 1: Heightened Curse
- Support 2: Strip Away
- Grim Feast – Makes it so that enemies and minions that die near you have a chance to drop Grim Remnants. Pick those up to refill your Energy Shield, bolstering your survivability.
Focus on these Skill and Support Gems and you should have no trouble taking this build up to the end of the campaign. Just remember to keep upgrading your Skill Gems to power them up!
Passives and Ascendancy
When it comes to the Passives Tree, your goal should look something like in the image above. You start from the Sorceress’ path on the top of the central part of the tree and continue branching upward.
The main goal here is to pick up as many boosts to Intelligence and Cast Speed as possible early on. As we’ve mentioned before, Arc is somewhat of a slow spell to cast. You want to boost your Cast Speed quickly to work around that limitation.
By the same token, you want to get any boosts to Spell Damage, Lightning Damage, Critical Spell Damage Bonus, and Critical Hit Chance for Spells. As you can probably guess, these will be the main stats that define your damage output. Arc can easily shred through groups of foes when you boost your Critical Hits enough!
For your Ascendancy, you’ll want to go with Stormweaver due to the following Passives:
- Scouring Winds – This further boosts Exposure inflicted by Conductivity.
- Tempest Caller – Grants you the Elemental Storm Skill, which triggers whenever you land a Critical Hit. This will create a Lightning Storm surrounding your target, further damaging them.
- Strike Twice – Allows you to stack two Shock Ailments at once on enemies.
- Rain Dance – Increases Elemental Storm’s Cooldown Recovery Rate by 150%.
Aside from these Notable Passives, Stormweaver also has a few Spell Critical Chance nodes. Get them as you work toward the Notable Passives to make Arc even more powerful.
