Now that Palworld 1.0 has finally left Early Access, the process of making the “perfect Pal” has become a lot more involved. Back then, you could just make do with catching a Pal that has good passive skills.
With the full release, however, two new systems have been introduced that further expand the way you form your team. These systems come in the form of Awakening and Mutation. These are on top of the already existing mechanics such as IV optimization, Pal Condensation, and Pal souls.
With all that in mind, how exactly do you create the perfect Pal? Well, this perfect Pal guide will aim to help you out.
How to Create the Perfect Pal in Palworld 1.0

Before you get started, you should first have a few essential support Pals in your party. This will help make breeding a lot faster and more efficient.
Specifically, you want Grintale for its Partner Skill that grants you a 75% chance of getting an extra egg whenever you pick up a Pal egg. Another ideal addition is Broncherry and Broncherry which both have the ability to give Pal eggs a chance of becoming an Alpha Pal egg instead.
You also want a Wispaw as its Partner Skill increases your capture rate, which makes it easier to catch Pals with good passive skills or high IVs to use as breeding parents.
Lastly, make sure you have Yakumo. This Pal is one of the strongest breeding tools in the game because it can help transfer its own passive skills to newly captured Pals. The trick is to give Yakumo only one or two desirable passives.
Trying to transfer all four at once dramatically lowers your chances, so keeping its passive pool small produces much more consistent results.
Set Up Your Breeding Farm

Once you have your breeding farm set up, your next goal should be increasing efficiency. Once you hit level 34, make sure to craft the Ability Glasses so you can check a Pal’s hidden IVs.
This is extremely important as it will save you from wasting resources on poor breeding candidates.
You also want to have Braloha in your base. When fully Condensed, this Pal will speed up breeding by 50%. If it has the new Babysitter passive, it will speed up breeding and egg incubation even faster.
After you have everything properly set up, here are the steps you want to follow in order to attempt to create perfect Pals:
Step 1: Breed for the Right Passive Skills

Passive skills are still the most important part of creating a strong Pal.
For combat Pals like Xenolord, Jetragon, Bellanoir Libero, or Blazamut Ryu, you’ll generally want offensive passives such as Musclehead, Legend, and Serenity, along with another passive that complements the Pal’s element or playstyle.
For workers like Anubis, you want to focus on production-oriented passives such as Artisan, Serious, Lucky, or Work Slave instead.
Don’t worry about IVs or mutations yet. Your goal is simply to breed parents that collectively have the four passive skills you ultimately want on your finished Pal.
Step 2: Use the Right Cake

The 1.0 version of the introduced four new breeding cakes, and each of them has a different purpose. Instead of replacing each other, you’re meant to use them at different stages of the breeding process.
Start with the Vegetable Cake, as it causes your Pals to lay twice as many eggs. This makes it perfect for combining desirable passive skills through sheer volume. Pair it with a fully Condensed Grintale so you can have far more eggs in the same amount of time.
Once you’ve bred parents with the passive skills you want, switch to the Special Cake. This cake dramatically improves passive inheritance.
If your breeding pair only has the four desired passives between them, the offspring will almost always inherit those exact skills.
After you’ve locked in your passive skills, move on to the Mushroom Cake. Instead of affecting passives, this one improves IV growth, which allows the offspring to gradually roll higher HP, Attack, and Defense values than their parents.
Lastly, use the Extravagant Vegetable Cake. This is the last step because it increases the chance of producing Mutated Eggs while also helping improve IVs even further.
Step 3: Try to Get Mutated Eggs

Mutation is one of the biggest new mechanics introduced in Palworld 1.0. We have a mutation guide that you can check to increase your chances of getting Mutated Eggs.
Basically, one of your eggs will have a very small chance of hatching as a Mutated Egg. You can easily recognize them as they have a different appearance from regular eggs.
Mutated Pals usually come with significantly better IVs, start with a two-star rating, and can even roll exclusive rainbow-tier passive skills that neither parent possessed. In some cases, mutations can even produce Pals outside the normal breeding combinations.
It’s worth noting that mutation is heavily reliant on RNG, but using the Extravagant Vegetable Cake can help improve your chances.
Step 4: Use the Surgery Table to Correct Mistakes

Once you reach level 38, you will unlock the Surgery Table, which then unlocks the ability to change the passive skills of your Pals.
This is really useful as, instead of throwing away an otherwise perfect Pal due to one bad passive, you can replace that using implants.
You can get implants from several sources, including artifacts, expeditions, fishing, and the World Tree region. If you’ve already bred excellent IVs and almost perfect passives, using an implant is usually much faster than starting your breeding project from scratch.
Step 5: Fully Condense Your Pal and Spend Your Pal Souls

Once you’re happy with your Pal’s IVs, passives, and mutation, it’s finally time to Condense it via the Pal Essence Condenser.
Version 1.0 significantly reduced the number of duplicate Pals required to reach the maximum Condensation level, making this much less time-consuming than before.
For combat Pals like Jetragon or Xenolord, Condensation will significantly boost their Partner Skill and overall combat performance. Meanwhile, for workers like Anubis, Condensation will improve their Work Suitability so they can complete jobs much faster.
This should always be done after you’re certain you’ve found your final breeding result.

Next, visit a Statue of Power and invest your Pal Souls. These will permanently increase your Pal’s HP, Attack, and Defense.
Since Pal Souls are a valuable resource, make sure you don’t spend them on temporary breeding projects. Save them for the Pal you’ve already fully bred and Condensed instead.
Step 7: Awaken Your Perfect Pal
After you’ve gone through all of the steps mentioned above, the final step will be to awaken your perfect Pal.
Doing so permanently increases your Pal’s stats by roughly 8%, which is quite a significant boost once you reach the endgame.

To awaken a Pal, make sure to obtain Radiant Gems and Holy Tree Water, which can both be found around the new World Tree region. Once you’ve collected enough materials, craft the appropriate gem at the Ancient Workbench and use it to Awaken your Pal.
You want to craft the gem that corresponds to the element of the Pal you want to awaken.
That said, awakening grants a noticeable stat increase and surrounds your Pal with a glowing aura. It’s not the biggest upgrade you’ll receive, but it’s the finishing touch that completes a fully optimized Pal.
Wrapping Things Up
If you’ve played Palworld in Early Access, you might realize that creating the perfect Pal now takes more work than ever. However, the new systems introduced in Palworld 1.0 also give you much more control over the final result.
By breeding the right passives, improving IVs, farming Mutated Eggs, and finishing with Condensation, Pal Souls, and Awakening, you can build a Pal that’s ready for any endgame challenge.
So take your time and focus on the steps above, one at a time. Good luck!
