New World: Aeternum has a large world filled with side quests, but players who are short on time might want to focus on just the most important ones.

Some side quests just offer some distractions and extra flavor, after all. However, others are a step above in importance as they unlock key mechanics or give you game-changing loot. Those are the ones we want to focus on here!

So, without further ado, read on and we’ll tell you what the most important side quests in New World: Aeternum are!

Most Important Side Quests in New World: Aeternum

To Unpathed Waters

If you want to get started with fishing in this game, this is the quest for you. You can do it at any time by meeting Perronelle le Noir near Preddiu Shrine in Monarch’s Bluffs.

Complete her quests to learn the basics of fishing and get the Beginner’s Fishing Pole! For more details, check out our guide on how to do her quest and start fishing.

Down Payment (Level 14)

This quest becomes available by meeting Giacomo Altoviti after you get a house as part of the main story and reach Level 14. You can find Giacomo in Monarch’s Bluffs, Windsward, and Everfall. The quest is mostly the same no matter which region you find him in, though.

The main notable thing about it is that you get a Starting Housing Furniture Box as a reward. You can place it within your home and use it as extra storage!

Faction Quests (Level 17)

You can join one of 3 Factions once you progress through the main campaign in the game and reach Level 17.

There are many benefits to joining a Faction, such as access to their shops and other features, so you want to do it ASAP! If you want more details, we have a detailed guide covering how to do these side quests and join a Faction.

My Kingdom for a Horse (Level 20)

Getting around everywhere on foot is a pain, right? Wish you had a mount instead? Well then, complete this quest as soon as you reach Level 20 to get your first horse!

To do this quest, you just have to talk with Jochi Khan in the middle of the Brightwood region. For more details, check out our guide on how to unlock mounts.

Grizzly Neighbors (Level 29)

You can start this quest by talking to Holt Hutchinson in Brightwood once you’re Level 29.

Help him get revenge on the savage bears that destroyed his family and he’ll reward you with the special Bear Tooth skinning knife tool. It drastically increases your skinning speed, while also increasing how many resources you get!

Story of the Stones (Level 32)

Another great quest for obtaining a quality tool! You can start this quest by talking with Architect Na Li near the Periville Shrine in the Weaver’s Fen region.

Complete the quest to get the Ancient Mining Pick pickaxe tool, which comes imbued with some powerful traits from the get-go. These traits will let you mine faster, gain more experience while mining, and even have a random chance to get Azoth whenever you mine!

The Silver Crows (Level 60)

To start this seasonal quest, get to Level 60 and talk with Grace O’Malley. She can be found in the Brimstone Shards and Edengrove regions.

Completing the quest will reward you with the extremely useful Silver Crows Satchel. It increases your carry weight by 94, increases the duration of consumables like food, and also increases how much Azoth and Faction Tokens you earn!

This brings us to the end of our list, so you should now know what the most important side quests in New World: Aeternum are. There are still dozens of other side quests to do aside from these, however. Make sure to check them out eventually, you might find something we missed!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
