Badges are a means of improving the overall skills of a player. They offer a significant advantage in the game, and in most cases, it’s the boost they offer that will mean the difference between winning and losing a game. Needless to say, builds revolve around badges, and some builds even rely on them.

There are four different badges in the game, namely Shooting, Playmaking, Finishing, and Defense. In this guide, I’ll show you how you can get badges for the first two pretty quickly.

How to Get Shooting and Playmaking Badges Quickly in NBA 2K23

Getting badges is a grind, and it’s often the most tedious aspect of the game, even in previous NBA 2K versions. However, you don’t have to spend forever just to grind them.

So, how exactly do you get Shooting and Playmaking badges pretty quickly?

Methods for Earning Badge Points

Each badge has its own “leveling meter” which you need to fill up in order to increase its level. The most common means of leveling that meter is by playing normal NBA games. Each action that you do will earn you points once a game ends, and these points will be distributed to the four badges.

It’s possible to earn more than 10,000 points per game which are then distributed to all badge types. For your Playmaking badge, you want to perform actions like assists, good ball movement, a pass leading to assists, and other playmaking actions.

As for your Shooting badge, you want to perform shooting actions like free throws, 3-pointers, and open jump shots. The game will then calculate the amount of points that go into your badges depending on your actions.

Another method is to complete team practices when your team doesn’t have any back-to-back games. Practice games will give you four drill actions tied to each badge, and you even have the option to change the difficulty.

In a practice game, you will get a 1- to 3-star rating each time you do a drill. The rating that you get as well as the difficulting you’re playing in will determine the number of points you get.

Since there are four drill challenges total in each practice, you’ll be able to get at least 3,000 badge points if you get 3-star ratings on hard difficulty.

Which Method is Faster?

Of the two methods above, playing regular NBA games will certainly give you more badge points per minute. However, practices only take around 10-12 minutes on average, but then again, you’ll be getting lower points. This will net you around 320 badge points per minute.

On the other hand, regular NBA games will take around 17-22 minutes to complete. This will net you around 500 badge points per minute which is definitely higher.

And since we’re talking about leveling up your Shooting and Playmaking badges quickly, this would seem to be the better choice.

In a nutshell, you can level up both badges pretty quickly by focusing on actions that are tied to them. Also, longer games will give you more time to perform those actions which in return increases the points you can get. But then again, you can just compensate by playing even more games.
