MultiVersus: What Makes a Good Character | Best Characters Guide
MultiVersus has finally launched its open beta to the public, so it’s not surprising when players are trying their best to pick the best character in the game.
MultiVersus is out to the public for its open beta for a week now. As such, you can notice players having a preference on which character to use. After all, you will eventually notice that some characters can easily outplay other characters while some just don’t have that potential to come out on top.
Now, while everything is still subject to change, we can’t deny the fact that some players are currently dominating the game compared to others. That said, let’s have a look at the things that make a good character so you can easily choose which one to play.
What Makes a Good Character in MultiVersus
There are three specific traits that determine the strength of any character in MultiVersus. Just keep in mind that bad characters are non-existent in MultiVersus in doubles. In fact, if you play it properly, it can even turn the tide around, especially if you pair it with a strong character.
That said, these three specific traits are as follows:
Teamplay
While this might sound obvious, it’s actually a very prominent trait, particularly in duos. After all, if a character brings a lot of utility that will help them win the fight, then it’s no doubt a really strong one.
You can notice this when looking at professional plays. You’ll come to realize that characters who play the role of support will almost always end up being high-tier.
A few good examples include Steven who acts like a bruiser but can also take on the role of a tank. Then there’s Velma who’s mainly a mage but can apply debuffs on her enemies.
Use of Projectiles
Another key trait that makes a good character is the ability to use projectiles. What makes this a particularly strong trait is that having the ability to throw projectiles means you can damage your opponent from a safe distance.
You will quickly realize how hard it is to fight using a character with no projectiles against those that do. It’s for this reason why mages in the game are considered high-tier since getting close to them can be really hard.
Besides, projectiles can be really strong if they shoot fast, which is the case with Velma’s Speech Bubble. This explains why she is considered a top-tier character in the game by most players.
Disjointed Hitboxes
In case you’re wondering, disjointed hitboxes refer to a hitbox from a move without a character’s hitbox. You can observe this from characters like Wonder Woman and Finn who both have a sword. Basically, their swords have a disjointed hitbox. This means that each time you hit the sword, it won’t count as a hit since it has no hitbox.
On the other hand, if you hit characters like Taz’s Tornado or Shaggy’s fist, it will be considered a hit. With disjointed hitboxes, you’ll be able to trade hits with other characters and gain the upper hand as a result.
For example, Taz’s Tornado can be pretty annoying to deal with. However, if you use Finn and attack his tornado using your sword, you can actually end up disrupting it.
There are lots of other characters who have disjointed hitboxes as well. It’s just a matter of trying out all of them in Training mode.
