At some point during your exploration in Subnautica 2, you will swim too far east and get an immediate heat warning telling you to turn back. The high temperature biome sitting out there is where Gold and Sulfur are found, both of which you will need for mid to late game crafting. Without the Heat Tolerance Adaptation, you simply cannot survive there long enough to grab anything useful.
Getting it means cleansing an Angel Comb by destroying Bloom Cankers across three stages using the Sonic Resonator. You need the Resonator before attempting this so make sure you have it crafted beforehand. In this guide, I will walk you through the whole process so you can get the adaptation.
Getting the Heat Tolerance Adaptation
If you do not have the Sonic Resonator yet, the blueprint can be found at the Blackbox – Quaker signal located around 400 meters north of the Lifepod. Track it down and get it crafted before heading anywhere else as you will need it for every step of this process.
Once you have the Sonic Resonator, make your way to the Blackbox – Wander signal which sits around 250 meters southwest of the Lifepod. You will find a cave entrance here. Use your Sonic Resonator to open it up and head inside.
Once you are in, look around for four Bloom Cankers scattered around the cave. They glow blue in the dark so they are fairly easy to spot. Destroy all four with your Sonic Resonator before moving on.
After clearing the cave, follow the branch root leading out of it. It will guide you naturally towards the Angel Comb area. The Angel Comb you are looking for is the uncleansed one sitting at the end of the path. From its location, head north and follow the branch. You will come across three more Bloom Cankers. Take those out with the Sonic Resonator.
Once those are down, head back to the Angel Comb. Four new Bloom Cankers will have appeared around it. Destroy all four. Once the last one goes down the Angel Comb will open up. Walk up to it and touch its core to receive the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.
That’s It
That is everything you need to unlock the Heat Tolerance Adaptation. Once you have it, the high temperature biome opens up completely and you can start farming resources like Gold and Sulfur without any issues. It is one of those upgrades that unlocks a significant chunk of the map and makes a noticeable difference to what you can craft going forward.
