In this guide, we’ll tell you the unlock conditions for all of your Hideout’s Buildings and Themed Rooms.

Unlocking Main Room Buildings

Main Room buildings are the primary thing you want to unlock for your Hideout in AC Shadows, as they are overall more useful than the Themed Rooms. Unlocking and upgrading these will be key for smoothing out your progress throughout the game! Here are the unlock conditions for each building:

  • Hiroma – This building is unlocked by default, you have it as soon as you get access to the Hideout.
  • Stables – Just like the Hiroma, it’s available from the start.
  • Study – The unlock conditions for this building are a bit loose. That said, it seems to unlock naturally as part of the story. It appears to require you to do a Sumi-e Painting to unlock, which you do as part of the “Unpayable Debt” main quest early in the game.
  • Kakurega – You’ll unlock this naturally as part of Naoe’s main story quests. More specifically, it unlocks once you complete “From Spark to Flame”, the 5th main story quest.
  • Forge – Unlocked as soon as you complete the “Way of the Blacksmith” main quest. This quest automatically starts and is added to your objective board once you complete “From Spark to Flame.” It simply requires you to recruit a blacksmith in Sakai, Izumi Settsu.
  • Dojo – Unlocks when you recruit your first companion ally. That is, an ally who can assist in battle, so Tomiko and Junjiro don’t count. The earliest ally you can recruit is Yaya by completing the “The Stray Dogs” side quest. This side quest opens automatically halfway through Act 1.

As a bonus tip, we highly recommend prioritizing the Study and Kakurega for upgrades, in that order. The Study will allow you to have more Scouts, which is ideal for smuggling resources from enemy camps. Meanwhile, the Kakurega will give you more seasonal clues and unlock extra Fast Travel points. Both of these are vital for exploration!

Unlocking Themed Rooms

Aside from the main buildings, you can also unlock Themed Rooms. These are more basic buildings with lesser perks but are great for customization. Here’s how to unlock each one:

  • Tera – Unlocks automatically as part of the story. Defeat the first 3 Shinbafuku to clear Act 1 of the story and you’ll get this room.
  • Jinja – You’ll unlock this room once you pay your respects at a large shrine. There are multiple such shrines in the game. The earliest one is the Sumiyoshi Shrine in Osaka, Izumi Settsu.
  • Nando – Unlocks after you recruit any companion ally (such as Yaya) and upgrade the Study to Level 2.
  • Zashiki – You can unlock this after you complete Act 1 of the story. You’ll receive the “The Iron Hand Guild” quest from Imai Sokun in Sakai, Izumi Settsu. Speak with him and he’ll task you with assassinating 5 targets. Simply assassinate any of these targets and you’ll be able to build the Zashiki.
  • Tea Room – This unlocks as part of the main story. You’ll get it after you assassinate The Golden Teppo during Act 1.
  • Gallery – Unlocks as soon as you get one piece of Legendary equipment. An easy one to get is the Shinoby’s Fury Tanto from assassinating The Golden Teppo during the main story. Alternatively, the Bloodshade Legendary Katana is another great early option.
  • Small Room – Purchase from a merchant northeast of Takatsuki Castle in Izumi Settsu.
  • Medium Room – Purchase from a merchant near the Genbu Highlands in Yamashiro.
  • Large Room – Purchase from a merchant in the eastern part of Koriyama in Yamato.

That’s how to unlock all of the buildings and rooms for your Hideout in AC Shadows! Need help gathering the resources to build and upgrade them? Feel free to check out our best farming methods for materials!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
