Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader allows us to respec, which is great if you made a choice you regret when developing your character.

Respecs in this game will refund any points spent on abilities or talents so you can pick others instead.

In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to respec any character!

How To Respec Any Character

You can respec once you complete the game’s Prologue chapter and get free roam access at your own Voidship.

You’ll need to hold out a bit longer and progress the main story if you haven’t reached that point yet.

Once you get access to the Voidship, explore the bridge and look for the High Factotum Janris Danrok.

Speak with him and choose the “My retinue and I are in need of training” dialogue option.

Now, just choose which character you wish to respec and accept! This will reset all of their points again, allowing you to change their abilities and talents however you see fit.

However, the respec system in this game has some noteworthy limitations.

The first one is that the respec is free, but only at first. Its cost starts to go up if you keep using the option, requiring more Profit Factors later on.

Also, you cannot change a character’s Homeworld or Origin at all, nor can you change any of the Archetypes you’ve chosen. Your character is locked to their Archetypes no matter what!

This is something that not a lot of fans are happy with, so there’s always potential for it to change with a later update. Nonetheless, as of this writing, Archetypes can’t be reset.

Ultimately, the Respec option in Rogue Trader only allows you to change which Abilities and Talents you’ve chosen. It’s pretty limiting, which can be disheartening with how long and complex the game is.

Either way, now you know how to make use of the Respec function anytime you want. Hopefully, the developers at Owlcat Games will listen to feedback and allow us to at least change our Archetypes with respecs.
