Sulfur is one of the dozens of crafting materials you can get in Windrose.
This handy resource is primarily used for making your very own Homemade Gunpowder. If you’re using a lot of ranged weapons, this is a must-have resource, though it takes a bit to unlock.
In this quick guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to find Sulfur.
Where and How to Get Sulfur

First of all, you can find Sulfur in the Foothills biome. As such, I recommend that you defeat the Coastal Jungle Threat, Thomas Richards, first. This will naturally unlock the Foothills Discoveries.
Technically, you can go to the Foothills islands whenever you wish by just sailing to them. However, you won’t have the required tools to break down Sulfur deposits. Plus, you won’t be able to unlock Discoveries there before defeating Thomas Richards, either.

When you reach a Foothills island, you just need to look around on the surface. Look for rocks that have green-ish yellow mineral on them, such as the one shown above.
All you need to do is break down those rocks using an Iron Pickaxe or better to get some Sulfur. If you don’t have the Iron Pickaxe yet, you’ll need to find Foothills Iron Ore and craft it.
For quick reference, you’ll need 5 Foothills Iron Ingots and 5 Wood to make the Iron Pickaxe. You’ll need a total of 15 Foothills Iron Ore and 5 Charcoal for the ingots.

Aside from the large Sulfur deposits, you can also sometimes find standalone Sulfur rocks out in the open. You can break those using an Iron Pickaxe as well, they just yield a bit less Sulfur compared to the larger deposits.
Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know to be able to get Sulfur in Windrose! Note that you’ll unlock the Homemade Gunpowder schematic the first time you gather Sulfur, too. Pretty neat, right?
