The default horse you get in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is pretty solid, but it’s a good idea to try to get new horses for more options.

Every horse in this game has their own unique stats and special effects. Some are faster, some can deal more damage when charging into foes, and some simply have incredibly high stamina. There’s enough variety here for everyone to have a horse that better fits their playstyle, but you have to get them first!

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get more horses to fill up your stable in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Gotta get some pals for Walnut to hang out with, right?

How To Get New Horses | Dynasty Warriors: Origins

The main way to get new horses in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is as a reward for increasing the Peace in each province. You can see a province’s current Peace level on the bottom right corner of the screen while on the overworld. It’s the sacred bird gauge on the minimap, marked above.

You can increase Peace in each province by simply completing battles. This can either be through the main story battles, side missions, or skirmishes. These will all contribute to bringing back peace to ancient China!

Once you increase the Peace level for a province, go to the province’s Waymark and interact with it. This will allow you to claim various rewards for bringing peace to the region. These rewards usually include new horses, making them the main way to get horses throughout the campaign. Plus, you’ll also get other useful resources and materials.

Here’s a quick list of horses we’ve found in the game so far:

  • Maple – Reward from the You Province.
  • Chestnut – Reward from the Liang Province.
  • Birch – Reward from the Ji Province.

Ultimately, that’s the main way we’ve found to be able to get new horses in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Since it’s still early for the game, we don’t know if there are any secret unlockable horses to find yet, such as Lu Bu’s mighty Red Hare. However, we do know how to unlock Lu Bu himself as a companion!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
