You can get Lu Bu’s trusty horse, Red Hare, if you manage to defeat Lu Bu under special conditions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

While you do get to fight Lu Bu many times throughout the story, there’s an even harder challenge fight in the post-game. You’ll have to defeat the mightiest warrior in the land while also having some tough limitations imposed on you. Emerge victorious and Red Hare will deem yourself worthy of riding it!

If you’re not afraid of a challenge, read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know to get Red Hare in this game.

How To Get Red Hare, Lu Bu’s Horse | Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Truthfully, there’s no complicated process to unlock Red Hare as a steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. However, you will have to face a very challenging battle to unlock it. You have to complete the Battle of Xiapi against Lu Bu with the following conditions:

  • You should be on Ultimate Warrior difficulty. This difficulty unlocks once you beat the game’s campaign once.
  • You should not grab any Meat Buns or use any portable items at all. You can’t have any external help in this fight!

Since this is a one-on-one boss battle, you also can’t have any companions assisting you. As you can see, if you want to get Lu Bu’s horse, you’ll have to work for it!

Our personal recommendation before taking this challenge on is to simply power yourself up as much as possible. The battle has Lv.77 as its recommended Rank, so you should make sure to meet that at the very least.

We also recommend playing somewhat defensively. Lu Bu can easily take you out and you have no easy way to heal yourself due to the challenge’s limitations. As such, it’s best to focus on evading and parrying him. You get a brief window where he won’t retaliate after you parry him, which lets you deal solid damage even when you haven’t broken all his shields.

Ultimately, though, this will be a test of patience and skill. Be patient and keep trying the boss fight and you’ll eventually manage to achieve victory. It’s worth it to get the mighty Red Hare as your steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
