Dying Light 2 finally adds guns with its Firearms Update, but you’ll need to complete the new Lost Armory quest if you want to get them.
This quest isn’t simple or short, either. Just making a beeline for all of the quest objectives can take about an hour, so buckle in if you’re eager to get your hands on some guns!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to unlock the guns vendor by completing the long-winded Lost Armory quest.
How to Get Guns – Starting the Lost Armory Quest
Before we go over the “Lost Armory” quest, we want to let you know that you will get a free Harran Pistol just by booting up the game before March 7th.
Just log in and the Harran Pistol will be added to your Stash, no quests required!
Of course, though, that’s just one basic promotional pistol. You’ll still need to complete the new Lost Armory quest if you really want to get proper guns.
Do be warned, this quest is extremely long. Even just rushing it can take about an hour to complete!
Anyway, to start this quest, you will first need to progress in the story until you reach the Central Loop region. After that, you need to wait for a radio call that starts the quest.
The quest trigger can be finicky though, so try sleeping various in-game days if it doesn’t pop up. It’s also a good idea to close and reopen the game after you’ve reached Central Loop.
Once you receive and accept the quest, head to the Fish Eye Canteen. It’s smack dab in the middle of the New Dawn Park region, to the east of Central Loop.
Follow the quest marker to enter the building where Harper is and you’ll meet a new agent called Jai. Speak to him to properly start the quest! Your task is to recover a variety of GRE codes.
After talking with Jai, travel to the Metro: King William Bridge station in Muddy Grounds.
Once you are at the metro station, go north to follow the quest marker and you’ll come face-to-face with some hostile renegades. Take them out however you see fit!
When they’re all dead, go to the back of the room to find the first GRE crate for this quest. Open it and loot it
After looting the GRE crate, your next destination is the GRE quarantine building in the southernmost part of The Wharf. It’s best to go at night so there’s less Volatiles inside, but it’s up to you!
Go into the quarantine building from the top and drop down to the 3rd Floor to find a door with blue lights. Open it up and go into the room, then deal with any zombies or Volatiles inside.
When the ugly rotten freaks are dealt with, take the rightmost exit to find the second GRE crate for the quest.
Now, finish up this part of the quest by returning to Jai at the Fish Eye Canteen and speaking with him!
Part 2: Survivor Mission Introduction
When Jai’s done talking your ears off, go to the southern edge of the Trinity region. Your goal is to go near the Larch Windmill there.
Follow the quest marker and enter the building through the window on its side to meet another agent, Delta.
She has another one of the armory codes you need, and she’ll only give it to you if you grab some stuff for her. To get said stuff, you’ll need to complete the first Survivor Mission, “Priceless”.
To start the Survivor Mission, you just need to go to The Bazaar safe zone in Trinity. It’s straight north of where you meet Delta, in a repurposed church.
The Survivor Mission itself is quite simple, but you’ll encounter tough foes. Playing it in co-op is highly recommended!
Either way, though, you just need to follow the quest marker and collect various resources for Delta. There are about a dozen items you’ll have to pick up, and you’ll need to cover a lot of ground for them.
When you finally manage to complete this arduous Survivor Mission, return to Delta and give her the loot she asked for. She’ll hold up her part of the deal and give you the GRE armory code she has.
Sadly, though, you’re far from done yet! You now have to go find and talk to a guy called Gatsby.
Part 3: Getting the Final Codes
To find Gatsby, you have to go to the northwestern corner of the Downtown region, near the relay tower.
Look for a blue rope on the northern side of the building that the quest marker leads to and use it to zoom all the way to the top.
Take out the zombies that get in your way and follow the quest marker until you reach a large white door. Open it up to meet Gatsby, then just watch the conversation.
Turns out this little coward ended up selling the GRE armory code to some bandits who work for Tackhead. Time to hunt them down, I guess!
Follow the quest marker to a building in the northwestern part of The Wharf, as shown above.
Once you reach the destination, you’ll be looking at a shoddy shack by the river. You’ll know it’s the right one when you see “Tackhead” written on the door.
Interact with the door and a bunch of bandits will come out of the woodwork, saying you found trouble. Turn the tables on them and show them that the only trouble around is yourself!
Once you’re done with the series of battles, you’ll get a call from Tackhead. He’ll tell you to go to a location smack dab in the middle of the Muddy Grounds region.
At the Muddy Grounds location, look for a crane truck and investigate the bloodied hat next to it.
Then, find the marked door north of the craneand open it to meet your new best friend, Tackhead.
Your next task is to head all the way back to the GRE quarantine building in The Wharf. Yup, the same one where you got the second GRE crate for Part 1 of this quest!
Part 4: Getting the Decoder and Dealing with Tackhead
Once you reach the GRE quarantine building in The Wharf, your goal is to reach one of the lower floors. The easiest way to do it is to find the elevator shaft and drop down the hole.
Follow the blue doors until you reach a large room full of zombies and a red door. Clean these freaks out and then look for the shelf on the rightmost side of the room.
Hop atop the shelf and open the small box to pick up the decoder for the GRE armory codes. Now you just have to make your way out of the quarantine building!
Now, go back to Tackhead’s meeting point in the middle of Muddy Grounds and speak with him.
After a short conversation, you’ll be tasked with deactivating three bombs. You only have 1 minute to do it, but all of them are in the same room.
Just rush south from the meeting point to reach the building with the bombs and use the quest markers to find them with ease!
As soon as you disarm the bombs, you’ll have to rush to the southwest to track Tackhead and his bandits.
This is yet another timed objective, and you have 3 minutes to complete it! Thankfully, these bandits aren’t too far off from the building with the bombs.
Follow the quest markers until you reach an underground building full of bandits. Take these goons out and get your GRE decoder and codes back.
Part 5: Finding the Lost Armory
After the cutscene, go through the green door right in front of you to reach another large room.
Check the wall to your left to find a broken wall with a crashed truck. Crouch down and crawl under the green containers to reach the room with the armory.
Just turn to your right after crawling and approach the large green container with a red light. Interact with it to open up the GRE’s lost armory and complete the quest!
A cutscene will play and you will wake up back at the Fish Eye Canteen. You now have a fancy new Service Pistol in your possession!
Additionally, Jai’s services as a vendor are also unlocked. You can talk to him whenever you want to buy new guns and ammo.
He also provides various new Bounties that you can complete during the new Survivor Missions.Complete them to unlock new guns at his shop.
Nonetheless, you now know how to get guns and complete the Lost Armory quest! It sure was a long quest, huh? At least the reward was well worth the effort!
