As you might imagine, though, the process of getting them is quite a tad more involved than just getting some wood and rocks! I don’t blame you if you feel a bit lost early on when trying to get these tools.

The first thing you’ll need to do to get the Copper tools is actually to find some Clay. We have a detailed guide on finding Clay, if you want. But the gist of it is that you need to look out for muddy ground like the one shown above.

Windrose: Ancient Fire Sanctuary Puzzle Solution & All ChestsApr 20, 2026Generally, Clay is most commonly found close to the shore, particularly in the Coastal Jungle islands. You can gather it with the basic Stone Pickaxe, so it’s a very easy early game resource to find!
When you’ve found some Clay, you’ll unlock two important buildings in the Refining section of your Building Panel. These are the Smelting Furnace and Charcoal Kiln. Make and place at least 1 of each, you’ll need them later.
Go Mining for Copper Ore
Next up, you need to look for Copper Deposit mines. Since the game’s world is procedurally generated, I can’t tell you the exact spot for these. You’ll need to explore the marked “?” spots on your map until you find them.
Do note that Copper Deposit mines will be marked as such on your map after you first visit them, too. So, that at least lets you keep track of the ones you’ve found.
Inside the mines, use your Stone Pickaxe to break down the Copper Deposits and collect raw Copper Ore. Get as much as you possibly can! Make sure to refill your Oil Lamp too, so you’re not left in the dark.
Smelt the Copper Ore and Craft the Tools
When you have enough Copper Ore for your liking, return to your base. Use the Charcoal Kiln to burn down Wood and make Charcoal.
Then, use the Charcoal and Copper Ore in the Smelting Furnace to get Copper Ingots. You’ll need 1 Charcoal and 6 Copper Ore per Copper Ingot. If you want all Copper tools, you’ll need 13 Copper Ingots in total.
When you’ve smelted enough Copper Ingots, you can finally make the Copper tools at any Workbench. Here’s a quick reference for them:
- Copper Axe – 5 Copper Ingots + 5 Wood.
- Copper Pickaxe – 5 Copper Ingots + 5 Wood.
- Shovel – 3 Copper Ingots + 10 Wood.
At this point, you just need to craft whichever ones you want and need. That’s all you need to know to get the Copper (Bronze) tools in Windrose! I hope this helps make the process a tad easier for you.
