There are a lot of tough bosses to take on in Path of Exile 2, even in its early access state. By the tail end of the second act, you will be facing a boss known as Jamanra, the Abomination, and it can be a tough fight, just like Geonor form the first one. In this guide, we will try to help you get through this fight so that you can finally proceed to the next act!
How to Defeat Jamanra the Abomination
During the first phase of Jamanra, the Abomination’s fight, the mechanics are fairly straightforward. You just want to be avoiding his melee attacks and lightning abilities as much as you can. Standingbehind him typically achieves this.
Whenever he throws those small pillars on the arena, try your best to run away from them as they will start glowing and detonate, which will deal area of effect damage after a brief moment.
Occasionally, he will also spawn pairs of those that will rotate around the arena and form a lightning fence between them. Again, just try your best to avoid this as they move around. If you are using a ranged build, you should be able to continue applying pressure while running around.
The one mechanic that catches people off guard here is the sandstorm attack. When he does this, the friendly NPC accompanying you in the fight will form a barrier somewhere on the arena.
All you need to do here is stand behind it to avoid taking damage. Jamanra will spawn mobs during this period, so be ready to fight and poke him whenever you can if possible.
Jamanra, the Abomination – Second Phase
After taking a decent chunk of overall damage, the fight will transition to the second phase on a different arena. During this fight, tornadoes will periodically appear, and you will have to avoid them throughout the whole fight.
His basic attacks involve him conjuring up either a sword or a halberd. Both of which have a very telegraphed wind up, so just be ready to dodge away before he takes a swing. The sword is a vertical attack, while the halberd will be a horizontal wide swing.
Occasionally, he will also spawn pillars that will have lightning between them, just like in the first phase except they don’t move. Simply avoid these whenever they appear.
His moves are fairly straightforward, though it can be a bit overwhelming. As the fight progresses, he will start throwing in other stuff at the arena that you will need to look out for, such as the following:
He can spawn two portals facing different ways, and these will constantly fire projectiles at that direction. This will continue until they disappear on their own.
Lines will form from the sky, and lightning will strike down shortly after this.
He will occasionally conjure up daggers above his head before shooting them at you. This is heavily telegraphed, so just stay mobile to avoid getting hit.
He can spawn balls of lightning that will slowly move across the arena.
There is no other way to say this, but just avoid everything to the best of your abilities. If you have to, dodge through certain attacks and try not to get yourself cornered. It is a long fight due to how spongy bosses are in the game, so you will just need to outlast him as he cycles through these moves.
Tornadoes are surprisingly going to be among the biggest threats in this fight, as they will force you to stay on the move throughout the entire encounter.
Once you see a portal pop up, rush towards whichever part of the arena has the most space available. Another one will appear shortly after, and the two portals combined can temporarily cut off parts of the arena, so being in the section with the most space to move around in will help you avoid his tornadoes and other moves.
Just focus on dodging his attacks and pay no mind to his health bar. Eventually, when he does get to zero hp, all of the attacks currently active will simply vanish. So, just try your best to stay alive and avoid any tight corners that his portals and lightning fences create until you can whittle him down to nothing!
