HAWKED is a brand-new PvPvE extraction shooter with an extremely charming cartoonish aesthetic.
Players will get to explore a large island known as X-Isle, where they’ll get to loot powerful Artifacts and other gear. However, they’ll have to face off against the locals and other players in their quest for loot!
If you’re a beginner seeking to start your loot adventure in HAWKED, you’ve come to the right place! We’ll tell you everything you need to know to get started.
Complete Beginner’s Guide: Tips & Tricks
Welcome to the Riftwake
As soon as you start the game you’ll be introduced to the Riftwake. This will be your hub, so it hosts everything you’ll ever need!
You can take on a tutorial to learn the basics, meet NPCs to get quests, upgrade your gear, check your inventory, change your loadout, etc, etc.
Of course, you’ll need to use Hawks and other resources to use some of the facilities. But don’t worry, you’ll be getting plenty of these once you start exploring X-Isle and looting it clean!
This is your home in HAWKED, so make sure to explore it thoroughly as a beginner to learn about everything it has to offer.
Meet the Disciples
The Disciples are the humanoid reptilian enemies you will be facing off as you explore X-Isle. Of course, you’ll also face off against other Renegades, but the Disciples are a common threat to every player!
These range from the standard mooks such as the Ripclaw and Croaker to the absolute beasts like the Knucklehead and Grizzleback.
You’ll want to be careful if you ever find a wild Grizzleback in particular, as these bulky enemies can take a lot of damage and dish out the pain.
Pick and choose your battles carefully when facing the Disciples, but make sure to defeat them when possible to gain Hawks and other rewards!
Find the Glyphs and Artifacts
One of your main tasks when you land in X-Isle is to find and obtain the Glyphs. There are 5 in every match, and the Treasury will open once all 5 have been found.
The Treasury is the ultimate goal for every player, as it’s full of loot including the highly-coveted Artifacts!
You’ll find the Treasury on your map as a golden Grail symbol once you’ve deciphered every Glyph.
Deciphering the Glyphs is done by completing the various random challenges and puzzles found all over X-Isle. You can always find an explanation of how to decipher a Glyph on the left side of the screen.
Once you have the Glyphs and know the location of the Treasury, head there to find a large door. Input the Glyphs in the same order as they appear at the top of the screen to open the vault!
However, this will alert every other player to your location. Make sure to get ready to fend off enemy Renegades, then dive into the Treasury to claim your hard-earned rewards!
The Treasury almost always has at least one rare Artifact, as well, which you should make sure to extract.
Speaking of Artifacts, those are another important piece of loot to look out for. They’re mostly obtained from the Treasury, but might also be found through random events and smaller vaults.
Getting them and extracting them will allow you to keep the Artifacts, which you can later use as equipment to gain a variety of benefits.
How Extraction Works
Once you have an Artifact, you should rush to the closest Extraction Point. They are marked on your map as blue circles with an arrow facing up.
Reach the Extraction Point and you will need to capture it by standing inside of it. Stand inside the circle long enough to activate the Extraction Point for you and your team!
However, this will also alert enemy players to the Extraction Point. They will see your captured point on their mini-map as a red circle with an arrow. That means they’ll try to attack, so be ready to defend!
Of course, sometimes you’ll be the one doing the attacking instead if you wish.
Nonetheless, capturing the Extraction Point will automatically extract and secure all of your Artifacts and Trinkets. Additionally, you can choose to take the exit yourself and return to the Riftwake!
Don’t Rush to Upgrade
At the start of the game, you should save up your resources instead of upgrading the first thing you get your hands on. It’s tempting, we know, but just wait it out!
You’ll get new and different gear later on. Some of that gear might be straight-up better, while others will just be better fits for your personal playstyle.
Either way, it would be a shame to waste resources upgrading the first thing you get and then being unable to upgrade your gear down the line!
Simply put, be smart and wait until you’re certain you have stuff worth upgrading.
Small Tip: Master the Slide Jump!
If you want to move around quickly without using too much stamina, master the slide jump! You can do this by sliding and quickly jumping at the start of the slide.
The jump will maintain the momentum of your slide, but won’t consume as much stamina as just sprinting. It’ll also prevent you from losing speed from sliding too long!
Master this simple technique and you’ll be zooming all over X-Isle in no time flat.
