Enhancements allow you to improve your mercenaries, making it key to success in Gloomhaven’s brutal quests. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about unlocking the enhancement feature.
How to Unlock Enhancements in Gloomhaven
Much like classes, the unlock method varies between Campaign and Guildmaster modes. Similarly, unlocks in one mode don’t carry over to the other mode. We’ll break down the unlock conditions for both modes.
Campaign Mode
Unlocking Enhancements in Gloomhaven is done by obtaining the “Power of Enhacement”. This is unlocked by completing the #14 Core Scenario, Frozen Hallow.
There are a few routes that can lead you to this scenario. We’ll tell you which scenarios to complete so you know what to look for. Simply complete any of these routes and finish Frozen Hallow to unlock enhancements. Note that Core Scenarios are also called World Quests in the digital version of the game.
1: Black Barrow > 2: Barrow Lair > 4: Crypt of the Damned > 5: Ruinous Crypt > 14: Frozen Hallow
1: Black Barrow > 2: Barrow Lair > 3: Inox Encampment > 8: Gloomhaven Warehouse > 14: Frozen Hallow
1: Black Barrow > 2: Barrow Lair > 3: Inox Encampment > 9: Diamond Mine > 11: Gloomhaven Square A or 12: Gloomhaven Square B > 18: Abandoned Sewers > 14: Frozen Hallow
When you finally complete the Frozen Hallow quest, the Power of Enhancement will be unlocked, allowing you to make use of enhancements.
Guildmaster Mode
Unlocking Enhancements in Guildmaster mode is a bit more straightforward. You don’t need to complete any specific quests or anything like that.
You simply have to complete any quests you can and explore more of the world. After a certain point, you’ll be approached by an Enchantress.
This will unlock her as an advisor NPC, much like the Trainer and Merchant. Use her services to be able to enchant. That’s all there is to unlocking enchantments in Guildmaster.
Having the Enchantress join you will also unlock Enhancement-related achievements from the Trainer. It’s recommended to check them out and try to complete them for more unlocks.
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
