Dynasty Warriors fans need no introduction to Lu Bu. They all know not to pursue Lu Bu! Just like in previous games in the series, Lu Bu is by far the strongest warrior in Origins. His abilities allow him to destroy hordes of foes with ease. He really does live up to his fearsome reputation, so it’s a good idea to make him your ally!
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to unlock Lu Bu as a companion.
How To Unlock Lu Bu | Dynasty Warriors: Origins
First of all, we have some good news. The process to unlock Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is actually extremely simple. You just need to complete the game’s campaign in any difficulty. The game has a branching storyline with multiple finales, but it doesn’t matter which ending you get. Just beat the campaign and you’ll get Lu Bu as a companion.
Now, the bad news. You can’t bring Lu Bu with you as a companion during main story missions. He’s only selectable during battle replays and when doing side content. While it’s a bit disappointing, this is pretty much the same as every other officer companion in the game. The story limits you to selecting allied officers that make sense for the story.
Similarly to other companions, you’ll also not be able to play as Lu Bu directly at all times. You’ll only be able to play as him by temporarily switching to him when his Musou gauge is at 100%.
Also, you won’t get Lu Bu’s Peerless Halberd for your Wanderer automatically either. If you wish to obtain it, you’ll need to defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Hulao Gate on Ultimate Warrior difficulty. While this isn’t required to unlock Lu Bu himself as a companion, we thought it was worth mentioning. After all, it’s one of the best weapons in the game!
That’s the end of our guide. As you can see, it’s quite simple to unlock Lu Bu as a companion in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. It might be a tad disappointing that you can’t control him directly at all times like in other Dynasty Warriors games, but he makes for a mighty fine companion.
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
