Depending on how you complete one of the later battles in the game, Sun Ce might either perish or live. This affects the game’s branching storyline, so you get a different ending if you go out of your way to save him. However, the game doesn’t explicitly tell you what you need to do to keep Sun Ce alive!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to save Sun Ce of the Wu Faction. Be warned, though, that this will include some story spoilers since it relates to Chapter 4 content.
How to Save Sun Ce | Dynasty Warriors: Origins
You can save Sun Ce in Dynasty Warriors: Origins during the “Suppression of Wu” battle in Chapter 4. During the early stages of the battle, just play normally. Take out any Officers you come across and capture any bases you can while making your way toward the southwestern corner of the battlefield.
Eventually, Sun Ce will go into the forest on the southwestern part of the map and disappear. Ideally, you should get there before he does. Either way, you’ll encounter the phantom of Yan Baihu once you get into the forest after Sun Ce’s disappearance. Defeat him and his troops!
After you defeat Yan Baihu’s phantom, go a bit north and check the western wall on the circular part of the forest. Go to the exact spot marked on the map above.
You should notice a hole covered with plants leading into a cave. If you have trouble seeing it, you can use the Eyes of the Sacred Bird ability. As we explained in our guide about finding secret areas in this game, that ability is key for making exploration easier!
Head into the cave and you’ll encounter Bailuan. He’s the one responsible for the phantoms in the area, so take him out! He doesn’t really pose much of a threat, honestly. Just be careful as he’ll summon phantom troops to help him throughout the battle.
Defeat Bailuan and a cutscene will immediately start showing Sun Ce’s fate. Watch the cutscene and the battle will end. You’ll reappear at camp with Yuanhua confirming that Sun Ce managed to survive the encounter with the phantoms despite his wounds.
That’s everything you need to know to save Sun Ce in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Doing this will help you achieve the True Ending for the Wu faction!
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
