If you wish to make use of Masterworking during Season 7 in Diablo 4, you’ll need to farm up loads of Obducite.

Masteworking is an endgame system that allows you to rank up the special effects on your items. It’s meant to help you make the most of your Ancestral gear, which is already some of the best in the game. However, it requires loads of materials such as Obducite to use.

In this guide, we’ll tell you the best farming methods for this rare Masterworking material!

How to Farm Obducite in Season 7 | Diablo 4

Make Use of Season Blessings

Before we begin, we recommend picking the Urn of Masterworking as your Season Blessing. This will allow you to get more Obducite from every source, so it’s ideal to pick it before farming. However, this is just a recommendation. It’s not really needed if you prefer another one of these Blessings!

Barter in The Den

The first and easiest way to farm Obducite in Season 7 of Diablo 4 is to go to The Den and barter. You can barter by talking to Fayira at The Den. This feature becomes available as soon as you reach Level 15 and get any Mercenary to Rank 5 Rapport.

To barter, you’ll need to get Pale Marks. This is a special currency which you can only get by increasing your Rapport with any Mercenary. Every rank will give you a bundle of Pale Marks. If you already maxed out a Mercenary’s Rapport, you can continue claiming a bundle of 100 Pale Marks indefinitely by gaining more Rapport.

When you have some Pale Marks to spend, talk to Fayira at The Den. You specifically want to barter for Masterworking Caches. Remember you can also refresh Fayira’s inventory if she doesn’t have any caches. You get 1 free refresh daily, with extras costing you Pale Marks.

Regardless, these Masterworking Caches contain a large amount of Gem Fragments, Obols, and Obducite! You’ll get about 1000 Obducite per cache you open. Not too shabby, right?

Kurast Undercity Farming

This Obducite farm returns for Season 7, having worked the same in previous seasons of Diablo 4. It becomes available after the “Reunion” main quest in the campaign. It’s a pretty simple speed-farming activity. However, to make good use of it you’ll need to get Tributes of Refinement.

Tributes of Refinement are a special item you can use when starting any Kurast Undercity run. They vastly increase your chances of getting Masterworking materials, such as Obducite. You can get Tributes of Refinement from the following sources after completing the Kurast Undercity priority quest:

  • Random reward for finishing runs of The Pit.
  • Potential reward from Mystery Chests during Helltide events.
  • Random drop from World Bosses.
  • Random drop from Uber Bosses.
  • Potential reward from Infernal Horde runs. We’ll talk more about this one later in this guide as it’s a good source of Obducite, too.
  • Potential drop during Nightmare Dungeons.
  • Potential reward from Unceasing Ancestors’ Legendary Kurast Undercity Tributes caches. You can get these caches by opening Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors caches. You get the latter as an infinitely repeatable Reputation reward during the Lunar Awakening 2025 event. For that, we recommend checking out our guide on how to max out your Lunar Reputation fast.

Now, we do want to point out that Tributes of Refinement are a pretty rare drop currently. Nonetheless, using them and doing runs of the Kurast Undercity is by far the most efficient Obducite farm. So, if you have the Tributes of Refinement, this is your best bet!

Infernal Horde

Another good farming method is to complete runs of the Infernal Horde mode. You can play this mode by using Infernal Compasses after completing its introductory quest as part of the main campaign.

If you have yet to play this mode, Infernal Horde is very simple. You get put in an arena and have to face off against constant waves of enemies. The enemies you defeat will drop a unique currency called Burning Aether. Survive all of the waves of mobs to face off against the boss, while also making sure to collect as much Burning Aether as possible!

Once you complete a run, you can spend the Burning Aether you accrued on 1 of 3 different chests. In this case, you want to open the Spoils of Materials chest. This chest will give you a random assortment of Obducite and Gem Fragments.

We also highlighted this method in our guide on how to farm Gem Fragments. You’ll get a large number of them alongside the Obducite you get. So, if you need both of these materials, this should be your main focus! As a bonus, this can give you Tributes of Refinement for use at the Kurast Undercity, as well.

So, there you have it! That’s everything you need to know to farm Obducite during Season 7 in Diablo 4. Make use of all the different farming methods to maximize how much you get! Plus, varying things up will keep you from getting bored.
