Gem Fragments are one of the many materials you will need to farm during Season 7 in Diablo 4.

Season 7 introduced the extremely powerful Occult Gems. These highly coveted Occult Gems, in turn, require hundreds of thousands of Gem Fragments to craft. Even longtime veterans are running out of their hoarded Gem Fragments trying to craft these Occult Gems, so it’s time to get farming!

In this guide, we’ll tell you the best farming methods for Gem Fragments in the Season of Witchraft.

How to Farm Gem Fragments | Diablo 4: Season 7

Complete Headhunts and Whispers

The first method to farm Gem Fragments we’ll go over is possibly the most useful in Season 7 of Diablo 4, generally speaking. All you need to do is keep an eye out for any zones that have an ongoing Headhunt event and complete it.

You can get a large amount of Gem Fragments by defeating the bosses within the Headhunts. On top of that, though, Headhunts also count as Whispers. This means that, aside from the boss drops themselves, you’ll also be able to get Whisper Caches by completing Headhunts. Whisper Caches can contain a large amount of Gem Fragments, making this a good method as you have two different sources at once!

What’s more, sometimes you’re offered a Collection of Gem Fragments as a reward cache. It’s pretty rare, but this cache gives you a massive amount of Gem Fragments at once. If you really need Gem Fragments, make sure to pick this cache whenever you can.

Play the Infernal Horde Mode

Another good method is to complete runs of the Infernal Horde mode. You can play this mode by using Infernal Compasses after completing its introductory quest as part of the main campaign.

If you have yet to play this mode, Infernal Horde is very simple. You get put in an arena and have to face off against constant waves of enemies. The enemies you defeat will drop a unique currency called Burning Aether. Survive all of the waves of mobs to face off against the boss, while also making sure to collect as much Burning Aether as possible!

Once you complete a run, you can spend the Burning Aether you accrued on 1 of 3 different chests. In this case, you want to open the Spoils of Materials chest. This chest will give you a random assortment of Obducite and Gem Fragments. The exchange rate seems to be about 1000 random Gem Fragments for every 100 Burning Aether.

Now, this method can be particularly effective if you’re also in need of Obducite. It’s also very repeatable and easy to complete once you get the hang of it. The only downside is that each run of Infernal Horde takes a while to complete.

Open the Resplendent Chest in the Temple of Rot

Our last way to farm Gem Fragments in Diablo 4: Season 7 is one that requires no effort at all. However, you can only do it if you haven’t completed the Temple of Rot in the Dry Steppes yet.

For this method, you want to enter the Temple of Rot and quickly rush to the northwestern section marked on the map above. Ignore every single enemy and just rush to that spot. You’ll find a Resplendent Chest there, which you can open to get guaranteed Gem Fragments.

Once you open the chest, bring up the pause menu and log out by choosing Leave Game. Then log back in to the game, which will spawn you right outside of the Temple of Rot. Doing this will also reset the Resplendent Chest, allowing you to loot it again!

In summary, rush to the Resplendent Chest inside the Temple of Rot then log out. Log back in and repeat the process. Do this as many times as you want for a completely effortless farming method!

Now, the one big downside to this method is that the Resplendent Chest stops spawning if you clear out the Temple of Rot. As such, it can become permanently unavailable to you! Also, quite frankly, it’s a pretty boring method unless you’re multitasking…

So, there you have it, those are the best methods to farm Gem Fragments in Diablo 4: Season 7. Make good use of these methods to get all the Gem Fragments you need to craft the various types Occult Gems!
