Piranhado is one of the new Witchcraft powers you can get by using Forgotten Altars in Season 7 of Diablo 4.
This Rank 5 Witchcraft power has become one of the most wanted new powers in the season. It gives certain builds a massive buff, as it summons a Piranhado to deal damage over time whenever you afflict an enemy with a Hex and an Aura Effect. As if that enemy didn’t have enough to deal with already! Sadly, it’s not an easy one to get.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to efficiently farm Forgotten Altars so that you can unlock the Piranhado power in Diablo 4: Season 7.
How to Farm Forgotten Altars & Unlock Piranhado | Diablo 4: Season 7
Before we start, let’s quickly go over what Forgotten Altars are. These are randomly spawning altars that you can interact with to unlock a random Witchcraft power. You can see an example of one such altar in the image above. Also pay attention to its icon in the minimap, as it will help you find them in your game.
Now, the annoying thing about these altars is that they are pretty rare. They have a low chance of appearing randomly in The Pit, Dungeons, and Rootholds. On top of that, they only spawn in Torment difficulties, with higher difficulties increasing their spawn chance. Here are the default spawn chances:
Torment I – 1% Spawn Chance
Torment II – 2% Spawn Chance
Torment III – 3% Spawn Chance
Torment IV – 5% Spawn Chance
We highly recommend playing only on Torment IV if you wish to farm Forgotten Altars in Diablo 4: Season 7 to unlock all Witchcraft powers, such as Piranhado. You’ll also want to focus entirely on dungeons and the like, so we recommend using a build that’s good for mobbing.
Increasing Your Chances of Finding Forgotten Altars
You can drink Draughts of Whispers to further boost your chances of finding Forgotten Altars. You can get these consumables by interacting with Exposed Roots during Headhunts and Rootholds. Alternatively, you can get them from cache rewards given by The Coven and the Tree of Whispers.
A single Draught of Whispers doubles your chance of encountering Forgotten Altars for 1 hour. That means they’ll have a 10% spawn chance at Torment IV. Not great, still, but it’s improvement nonetheless! Plus, they increase the drop chance of Fugitive Heads, as well.
Sadly, there’s no other way to increase the spawn chance for these altars. Combine a Draught of Whispers and Torment IV for a 10% chance and that’s the best you’re gonna get.
That said, you can somewhat optimize the process of looking for them. For example, you can try doing a Tier 65 run of The Pit and rushing through it without killing enemies. Just run around and look for the Forgotten Altar while doing your best to avoid enemies. If you don’t find an altar, simply use the Town Portal to return to Cerrigar instead of continuing down The Pit.
This is an efficient way to try to farm the Forgotten Altars in Diablo 4: Season 7, so it’s worth a shot if you want to get Piranhado. It also maximizes the uptime on your Draughts of Whispers since you will be quickly entering and leaving The Pit. Just remember, though, it’s all still random luck and which Witchcraft power you get is also random. Nonetheless, we hope this guide helps you easily get Piranhado as quickly as possible.
