Death Must Die isn’t an easy game, but the Ghost Matter achievement ups the ante by asking you to win without taking damage.
Indeed, you’ll need to complete an entire run and defeat the final boss. All without taking a single point of damage! It ain’t easy…
In this guide, we’ll give you various tips to make this achievement much easier to get.
How To Get The Ghost Matter Achievement
The official achievement description is this: “Win an attempt without taking damage.” As we already said in our introduction, this is telling you to kill Dracula without taking damage at all.
You’ll need to survive 20 whole minutes for Dracula to appear without taking damage. Then, even after Death appears, you’ll need to be careful to finish the run by defeating him without taking damage.
Considering the challenge, you should only attempt this achievement once you have good knowledge of the game. You should also have most, if not all, of the unlocks by now.
Do note, though, that it’s only actual HP damage counts. Getting hit when you have a shield doesn’t void the achievement, so you should exploit them to make things easier. We’ll go into more detail below, don’t worry!
Also, it’s best to play at the lowest difficulty possible!
The easiest way to get this achievement is by becoming overwhelmingly powerful with Merris.
She has powerful skills like Rampaging Strike that can grant her some breathing room. Build her right and she will decimate enemies before they even have a chance to hit you!
Unlocking Ghost Matter With Merris
The gist of it is that you’ll rely on powerful AoE spells and Lady Justice’s Divine Shield.
When picking a sign, choose whatever fits your playstyle best. The only one you should avoid is The Sign of Timespace, as it reduces your mobility.
Your focus gods for this run should be Time and Lady Justice.
From Time, you should get Deadlock to make your spells last longer and Time Field to slow down enemies and projectiles near you.
Force and Gem High are also great choices. You’ll be able to get EXP shards more easily, as well as get boosts whenever you pick them up.
The most important tool for this run, though, is the Divine Shield from Lady Justice. Divine Shield will straight up prevent you from taking damage every once in a while!
You will want to focus on upgrading Divine Shield every single time it shows up. Each upgrade will lower the cooldown of the shield, drastically making the achievement easier.
It’s a good idea to use your Banishes on Lady Justice’s boons if possible, as well. Banish everything besides Divine Shield to make it much more common.
If you don’t get Time or Lady Justice as choices, you can choose any other ability you wish from other gods. Focus on AoE abilities, summons, and abilities that grant knockback or slow.
As you might guess, ignore everything related to life regen and armor. You can’t get hit at all, after all, so it might be a good idea to Banish these abilities to prevent them from showing up.
Keep these tips in mind as you play and you’re sure to emerge victorious! Of course, luck and skill will ultimately decide whether you succeed or not.
