Coral Island is now out on Steam and other platforms, giving players the chance to play this relaxing and soothing farm sim game. While it does look like your typical farming simulation game, there’s actually more to Coral Island than meets the say.
So if you want to dive into the game, you’ll want to know at least some tips and tricks first. We’re going to cover that and more in this guide.
Beginner’s Guide | Top Tips and Tricks in Coral Island
As with any farming simulator game, Coral Island has a bunch of mechanics that you need to familiarize yourself with. Of course, as a new player, you won’t be able to learn all of the game’s systems in one go, which is why you want to use these tips and tricks as you play the game:
One of the things that separate Coral Island from other farming sim games is that when you throw items into the ground, they’re gone for good. There’s just no way of looting them shortly after. This is why you’d want to build a storage chest as soon as you can so you can just store the stuff you’re going to need later on.
In order to craft a Makeshift Chest, you’ll need 25 Wood and 10 Trash. After that, simply place it on your desired spot and place your items inside of it.
Exhaust Your Stamina for the Day
Stamina plays a key role in almost any farming simulation game, and that’s especially true for Coral Island. Stamina lets you perform a lot of activities within your farm, and it will replenish the next day. As such, it’s important to maximize your stamina as much as you can.
Don’t let it go to waste. Instead, use it to perform various activities such as chopping down trees, breaking rocks, picking up trash, and more. If possible, drain your stamina to zero before you call it a day.
Coral Island has a pass out mechanic wherein you will pass out from exhaustion if you’re still working on your farm past 1 AM. If you happen to pass out, your money will be deducted and you’ll also receive a mail saying that you passed out.
To prevent this from happening, simply go to bed before 1 AM.
Check the Game’s Roadmap in the Main Menu
One handy feature that the devs have added is the roadmap for the game itself. You can find this on the main menu, and checking it out gives you an idea of the direction the game is going. It will also give you details about upcoming updates, when they’ll release, what they feature, and a whole lot more.
As the game is still in Early Access, you can expect a ton of changes in the game going forward.
Unlike other games that involve some complex fishing mechanics, Coral Island actually offers it in its simplest form. Basically, you can fish anytime and anywhere that you like provided you’re standing right next to a body of water.
You don’t need to look for any bubbles in the water or something similar. Simply cast your fishing line, wait for a fish to bite it, and reel it in.
Loot Every Trash Bin You Can Find
There are lots of trash bins you can find all throughout the town. Luckily, you won’t get any negative remarks from the people in town. So, rummage through all of those trash bins you can find in order to get a bunch of stuff for free.
Each Shop Has an Opening and Closing Time
To add to the immersion, shops in Coral Island has their own opening and closing time. You can see a signage outside the store telling you whether it’s currently open or not. Moreover, you can also interact with the sign to know when it’s going to open or close.
It will even show you which particular day the shop is not available.
Use Your Actions Properly
Each action you perform in the game will cost a bit of stamina. As such, you want to properly use your actions and make sure they’re doing something. For example, if you accidentally use your pickaxe and swing it into the air, it won’t actually do anything. However, it will consume stamina in the process.
Due to this, you want to make sure that when you use a tool or perform an action, it has to result in something.
Increase Your Mastery
Your skill mastery will play a key role in how you play the game. Depending on part of the mastery you’re focusing on, each of them will grant you significant buffs that will make your farming life a lot easier.
For example, the Stay Hydrated mastery grants a chance for your watered soil to remain watered the following day. Then there’s the Speed Demon mastery which grants a bonus to your movement speed which is undoubtedly pretty useful as you roam the town.
Expect Continuous Changes Along the Way
You have to keep in mind that Coral Island is still in Early Access. This means that some of the systems currently in the game might undergo changes or overhauls as new updates arrive. Also, you can expect a bunch of new stuff to be added to the game as it progresses to its 1.0 release.
