Best FREE 5-Star Character For You in Zenless Zone Zero 1.0

 Zenless Zone Zero is a free to play ARPG which will be released on 4th July, 2024. You can pre-register for it on PC and PS5. Or if you want it for mobile devices, then on iOS and Android.

Zenless Zone Zero has a completely different take on character design if you compare it to Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail. Each agent is fun to play and exciting. But you can only get so many agents if you want to remain F2P. So, let’s talk about which 5-Star agent would be best for you.

Bess Free 5-Star Characters

In the version 1.0 of Zenless Zone Zero, there are going to be eight 5-Star (S-Rank) agents. Out of these eight agents, two of them will be available in the limited banner: Ellen Joe and Zhu Yuan. That leaves us with six agents that can be considered free-to-play (through a bit of re-roll and luck).

Personally, I believe all of the current 5-Star agents are awesome in their own rights. But in the end, what you choose will ultimately fall to the character design and gameplay that you like the most. And to help you decide, I have given information on each agent down below.

Alexandrina Sebastiane

Alexandrina Sebastiane or more commonly known as Rina is an S-Rank agent that specializes in Support and her element is Electric. She belongs to the Victoria Housekeeping Co. faction.

Her movement speed on the field is very fast and her attacks have a pretty good range as well. This makes Rina easy to master and play. Especially good for players who are new to the genre.

Other than that, she deals electric damage to the enemies and builds up the anomaly meter pretty fast which results in the enemy getting shocked once it is full.

Rina also provides PEN ratio buff to the team when she attacks with her puppets. The buff ends when her puppets return to her. If you are not aware, PEN ratio is basically ignoring a percentage of the enemy’s defense. With this, your team can deal a lot of damage to the enemy.

Team

When paired with agents who are either on the same faction or have the same attribute, Rina will provide an electric damage increase to the team when the enemy is shocked. Following are agents that can be paired with her:

Go with Rina if:

• You want a fast moving character that is good at dealing damage from a distance.
• You want a character with an electric attribute so you can take advantage of multiple team compositions.
• You are new to ARPG games and want a character that is easy to play and learn.

Von Lycaon

Von Lycaon is an Ice S-Rank agent who specializes in dealing Stun based attacks. He also belongs to the Victoria Housekeeping Co. faction.

Attacking with Lycaon will fill up the Daze meter of the enemy pretty fast. Especially with his basic charged attacks. Once it is full, that enemy will get stunned. And enemies that are stunned are temporarily immobilized and receive more damage.

Lycaon and Ellen Joe combined can make for a very deadly duo. With Lycaon’s stun capability and Ellen’s impressive damage output, you will be able to take care of most enemies before they can even touch you.

Team

When Lycaon is paired with similar faction or attribute agents, he will deal more damage to stunned enemies. Here are agents you can pair with him:

Go with Lycaon if:

• You want a character that can stun enemies and deal additional stun damage.
• You want to build a team around the Ice attribute.
• You want to pull Ellen Joe.

Grace Howard

Grace Howard is an S-Rank Electric agent and her specialty is Anomaly. She is a part of the Belobog Heavy Industries faction.

She is pretty good at dealing electric damage and shocking enemies. Her main specialty is building up the electric attribute anomaly meter on the enemies. And her grenades also help out with this as they can build the anomaly meter on multiple enemies at the same time due to its AOE.

Team

If you put electric or similar faction agents in the same team as Grace, she will deal more electric damage through her EX Special Attack. The following agents can be paired with her:

By Attribute

• Alexandrina Sebastiane

Go with Grace if:

• You want a character that can deal damage from a distance.
• You have plans on building a team that will revolve around the Electric attribute.
• You want a character that has the highest potential of staying relevant after a couple of months or even a year. As she is the only Anomaly character right now besides Piper. But Piper’s team combinations are not as good as Grace’s.

Koleda Belobog

Koleda Belobog is also a member of the Belobog Heavy Industries faction and she is an S-Rank Agent with the Fire attribute. Her specialty is Stun.

Koleda has the potential of being your main DPS and is also capable of the sub-DPS role if you prefer that. Her Ex Special Attack causes a lot of daze eventually stunning the enemies. Overall, her damage and stun capability are pretty good.

Team

She makes a great team with Ben Bigger. They have unique special combos together which dish out a lot of damage. Using them together is the best way to use Koleda. But other agents with the fire attribute can also synergize well with her. Following agents are good in a team with her:

• Soldier 11
• Luciana de Montefio

Go with Koleda if:

• You want to make a team with Ben Bigger.
• You plan to make a Fire based team in the future.
• You want a good DPS character.

Soldier 11

Soldier 11 is the only member of the OBOL Squad faction. She is a Fire S-Rank agent who specializes in Attack.

Soldier 11 is by far the most complex character to use in the current roster of Zenless Zone Zero. You have to time her basic attacks if you want to deal a good amount of fire damage.

Being a close range combat agent, you will have to be more careful of enemy attack patterns and movement. If you prefer to play a challenging agent that requires more effort to master then Soldier 11 is pretty good for you.

Team

If you have fire attribute agents on your team then Soldier 11 will deal more fire damage. And on top of that, she will also deal more damage to stunned enemies. Following are best agents to go with her:

Go with Soldier 11 if:

• You want a fire DPS character.
• You prefer a character that is more challenging to play as.
• You want to form a team with Ben and Koleda.

Nekomiya Mana

Nekomiya Mana who also goes by the name Nekomata is a Physical S-Rank agent and her main specialty is Attack. She is a part of the Cunning Hares faction.

Nekomiya has the potential of being your main DPS agent and her attacks are very fast. She has also pretty good mobility and is able to move around the field quickly.

Overall Nekomiya is a good starting agent and can carry you far in the game. If you only want to draw one agent and save up the rest of your resources then Nekomiya is a good choice for that.

Team

When Nekomiya is paired with similar faction or attribute agents, she will deal more damage through her Ex Special Attack when a Physical attribute anomaly is inflicted on the enemy. This can stack up to 2 times. Following are agents that can be paired with her:

• Piper Wheel

Go with Nekomiya if:

• You want a character that can carry you throughout the game until new more powerful agents come out.
• You want to use her as your main damage dealer.
• You prefer a quick character with great mobility.
