The much anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows has just released, and this new addition to the popular series takes us to feudal Japan and features two different protagonists that you can play as throughout the story. Yasuke is one of them, and this guide will give you a few suggestions on what good weapons to go for while playing as him.
The Best Weapons for Yasuke
Ubisoft continues to experiment with the in-game formula of Assassin’s Creed, and with Shadows, they are continuing with the trend of RPG gameplay. This time, they are taking some inspiration from the Ghost of Tsushima franchise with its ninja and samurai gameplay.
There are a lot of different weapon types that you can use as both Yasuke and Naoe. For this guide, we are only going to focus on Yasuke, the samurai of African origin. He can use long katanas, naginatas , bows, teppos, and kanabos.
Here are some of the recommended weapons for Yasuke, including a short description of why or how you might want to use each entry:
Whisper of Muramasa (Long Katana) – This weapon is great for builds centered around blocking and riposting. Because of its passive abilities, riposte becomes a particularly deadly skill that will render your enemies extremely vulnerable.
Crimson’s Edge (Long Katana) – This long katana is especially good for a build that is centered around making your enemies bleed, as it will let you finish them off much faster. Outside of this niche build, it might not be the ideal choice.
Sage’s Reach (Naginata) – This naginata is mainly for those who have a very defensive playstyle, as it lets you stack up a lot of damage on your next attack with each successful block. If you prefer playing a more aggressive style, this might not be the right one for you.
Vengeful Foe (Naginata) – This weapon is great for bleed builds, just like the Crimson’s Edge. However, the Vengeful Foe relies a lot of successfulparries, so you need to make sure your counters are on point to make good use of it.
Time Honored Crescent (Naginata) –The Time Honored Crescent allows you to render an enemy vulnerable with your first strike every few seconds. This weapon’s effect is particularly good for longer fights, though it can have a ton of value in pretty much any encounter too.
Boulder Fall (Kanabo) – This kanabo makes it so that your attacks can’t be interrupted. Needless to say, it can be hilariously strong, especially if you prefer to play more aggressively. Despite the kanabo’s slow attack speed, the fact that you can’t be interrupted is devastating.
Woe’s Fog (Kanabo) – This weapon has a highdazebuildup, especially if you are successfully blocking enemy attacks. Great for builds focused on leaving enemies dazed and weak, leaving them vulnerable to attacks and more likely to miss their swings.
Dragon’s Wrath (Bow) – This weapon can instantly charge arrows, which is obviously a great perk to have on a bow. Use whichever perk alongside it that you prefer for this weapon type.
Last Breath (Bow) – This weapon alongside special ammo can instantly trigger afflicitions on a headshot. If your aim is on point and your build is centered around inflicting various status effects on enemies, this can be a pretty good choice.
Funeral Pyre (Bow) – its perk makes it so that the retreating shot skill will also push enemies back. This can be a good choice if you prefer using the bow most of the time, even in close range combat.
Dynasty Ender (Teppo) – This makes the teppo a silent weapon as its perk suppresses the noise made by firing it. Needless to say, this one is mainly for stealth builds and not so useful for more upfront fighting.
Patient Harbinger (Teppo) – With this specific teppo, you will be able to load two bullets every time you reload. It is just a great perk to have in general if you love using this weapon, as it significantly boosts how frequently you can shoot.
Death’s Bloom (Teppo) – This teppo will drastically reduce reload time, which makes it somewhat of an equivalent of the Patient Harbinger. Depending on what secondary perk you plan on using, either of these options can be great.
And those are some of the recommendations we have for you when it comes to what weapons to try and get for Yasuke. Take note that everything listed above is a legendary weapon and are acquired through varying means, such as clearing targets, opening chests, or doing quests.
There are plenty of other weapons that you can consider using if you have a more specific build in mind. Even weapons that are not of legendary rarity can have a ton of value if you know what you are doing, so do not come into the game thinking that these are the definitive best choices.
So those are our suggestions. If you have any other recommendations for some super specific and unique builds, let us know in the comments section below!
