Assassin’s Creed Shadows has various quests that you can complete, both required and otherwise. One of the essential main story quests is called the Temple of the Horseman, and in it, you have to try and get rid of Oda Nobunaga, and we surely do not need to explain how big of a deal this is by now. In this guide, we will try to point you to where you need to go to complete this specific objective.
How to Complete the “Assassinate Oda Nobunaga” Objective in the Temple of the Horseman Quest
During the Temple of the Horseman main quest, you are eventually going to get the vague objective to simply “Assassinate Oda Nobunaga”. You are pretty locked into the area during this section, so all you need to do is approach the quest marker where he is.
This entire section at Honnoji Temple is essentially on rails, as you cannot wander off due to the game walling you in, whether you like it or not. All you need to do is sneak around and reach the quest marker shown in the map image below:
It functions just like any castle in the game, and stealth is not really required. Obviously, it would be preferred since you are playing as Naoe, but the only important part here is that you make it to where Oda Nobunaga is, which is shown to you right from the start.
We have seen people try their best to sneak around all the patrols, which you can do very easily by just using eagle vision and marking enemies by holding the L2 button. However, all you need to do is reach his quarters in order to trigger the next part of the quest.
Case in point, here is an example of Naoe simply running towards the quest marker and ignoring any of the guards nearby:
If you prefer the sneaky route, there is a door at the side of the building that you can enter, which is only guarded by a single soldier that is surrounded by bushes that you can hide in. However, it will have the exact same outcome.
Regardless of how you approach the building, it will trigger a cutscene followed by a very cinematic fight that is full of spoilers, so we will just leave you to figure out the rest of it on your own. Needless to say, you do not actually get to assassinate Oda Nobunaga by completing this objective.
That is pretty much all you need to know in order to complete this very specific quest objective. There is no difficulty or skill involved as you can just run in there as soon as you load in to the area, though we will not stop you if you want to go through the immersive route of sneaking around the multiple possible paths to reach Oda’s building.
