Food in Monster Hunter Wilds can give you a pretty strong buff, but it’s important to check how much time the buff has left.

Depending on how you cooked the meal, Food Buffs last anywhere from 30 minutes to 50 minutes. This is usually enough for a hunt or two, but it’s still important to check the remaining time often. Don’t want it running out at a bad time, after all…

In this short guide, we’ll tell you how to easily check how much longer your food effect will last.

To check the remaining Food Buff time, you just need to hold the Item Bar button. This is L1 on PlayStation 5, LB on Xbox systems, and the Ctrl Key if you’re playing with mouse and keyboard on PC.

As you can see in the screenshot above, a clock will appear on the top left corner of the screen. It’s right above your Health and Stamina bars, making it pretty easy to spot.

It’s also worth noting here that the Food Buff time does not count while you’re still at a town or camp. You can take as long as you wish preparing before going on a hunt without the timer counting down. It’ll definitely keep you from wasting food!

Additional Ingredients

Also remember, as we’ve covered in our cooking guide, that you can extend the duration of Food Buffs. Just add any Additional Ingredient to your meals and they’ll last 50 minutes instead of the default 30 minutes!

Anyway, that’s all you need to do check your remaining Food Buff time in MH Wilds. Make sure to check it out every now and then so that you don’t lose your buffs in the middle of a tough hunt.
