There are so many unique gameplay systems, stats, and choices that the game can be quite overwhelming at first. The simple charming pixel art is deceiving; this game is way more complex that it looks!
If you’re eager to dive into your first playthrough of this Wuxia-inspired RPG, read on. We’ll give you some tips to get started!
Hero’s Adventure: Road to Passion – Best Tips & Tricks for Beginners
Your First Playthrough Shouldn’t Be The Last
Hero’s Adventure: Road to Passion is unique in that it’s intended to be played multiple times. Fans of the old Way of the Samurai series will be most at home with how this game handles playthroughs.
As such, it’s straight-up impossible to do everything in a single playthrough. Certain events contradict each other, and you’ll have to side with opposing factions at times.
So, this is a simple tip but just try to enjoy your playthrough and do what you can without stressing about doing everything in a single playthrough.
Try To Complete Achievements
Following up on the previous point, Hero’s Adventure: Road to Passion has hundreds of achievements for you to complete. Each one of them will give you achievement points, and might also unlock traits.
These achievement points and traits can then be used to modify your character each time you start a new playthrough. Some of the traits will even unlock new events and choices for you to make!
Others will instead just make sure that you start at a high level or have high stats right from the get-go, reducing the time you need to spend improving your character.
The achievement meta-progression system makes it even more enticing to do multiple playthroughs. This game’s replay value is truly fantastic, so you have to go in with that in mind.
Stick To Normal or Easy At First
You might be tempted to choose a higher difficulty right off the bat. Maybe you’re very experienced with tactical RPGs, or maybe you just love a good challenge.
But, Hard and Nightmare difficulties are really meant to be tackled later on.
Considering what we’ve already established about the game’s meta-progression and replayability, the higher difficulties fully expect you to have achievement points and traits to make them more bearable.
So, it’s best to just stick to Normal or Easy difficulties at first. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself having a lot of trouble making any progress at all, which can be very frustrating.
Character Creation Tips
There’s a lot to choose from in character creation, even when you’re on a brand-new save with no unlocks at all. As such, we’ve got some pointers on what to look out for!
First, we recommend you stick to either Fist or Sword as your weapon of choice. They are extremely versatile and easy to use, plus they have the largest number of Martial Arts available.
As for traits, you don’t really get too much to choose from at first. However, the “Analyzing” and “Practice Makes Perfect” traits are great choices as they boost your experience gain.
It’s also a good idea to choose a weapon Mastery trait that fits your weapon of choice. For example, “Fist Mastery” for Fists or “Blade Mastery” for Swords.
Lastly, your stat distribution is fairly open-ended. If you want to try many things out, though, you can level them all up equally.
You’ll get to increase them later on during your playthrough as well, so you’re not permanently stuck with the stats you choose here!
Don’t Ignore The Thief & Constable
You’ll see an event with a thief and a constable the moment you start a new playthrough. You’ll then be asked to side with one or the other.
It doesn’t matter which one you choose at this point but do make sure to not ignore them. Or even worse, don’t kill them!
The character you side with will be your first ally, and they will teach you the ropes by being the in-game tutorial.
Make sure to pay attention to what they have to say to you, as this game is pretty unique and you’ll need all the help you can get!
