Survival: Fountain of Youth is a challenging game since there’s a lot to keep track of when surviving on its deserted island.
Thankfully, you get to pick some items to start out with! But there are a lot of them and not all of them are good.
In this guide, we’ll go over the best items to choose when you’re starting the game.
What Items to Choose at the Start of Survival: Fountain of Youth
There are a few good items to choose from and you only get to pick two, so we’ll start with the best overall item.
The best item is the Navy Coat which gives you complete protection from the sun, the wind, and the cold. It will also give you some protection from rain and some armor.
It starts with low durability, but it will greatly help you survive at the start of the game. You can even dismantle it for resources later if you want.
Another amazing item is the Leather Backpack. This bag will help you carry 22 more weight units which greatly expands your inventory’s size. This will let you gather way more resources in one trip.
It’s a tad useless on Easy difficulty, however, so we would recommend another item if you play on that difficulty. Nonetheless, it’s a huge help on higher difficulties, even though it will most likely break before you can repair it.
Our last item is the Iron Flint. This tool can be used as a firestarter when you’re at your camp, and it’s much better than the basic firestarters you would have otherwise.
If you don’t know, firestarters are a type of tool that you need to start up your campfire in this game. Every firestarter has a different chance to actually light the fire, though!
Failed lighting attempts will use up one hour of in-game time, which makes the basic ones likely to waste your time.
That’s why the Iron Flint is an amazing starting item as it has a high ignition chance. You can even use it to light torches!
These are the three best starting items in the game. You only get two slots, so you will have to pick two of these depending on your preferences. Still, that narrows down the options!
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
