Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader came out not too long ago to rave reviews, and it’s already getting its 1.0.1 patch!

Don’t let the numbering fool you, this isn’t a minor patch. It boasts over 300 fixes and changes aimed towards making Rogue Trader even better than it already is.

In this article, we’ll go over the key highlights from this patch! We’ll talk about what’s new, what’s been fixed, and what still remains broken.

Complete Overview Of Patch 1.0.1 for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

What’s New?

There’s not much in the form of new content and the like with Patch 1.0.1, as Owlcat Games seem to be focusing on fixing issues first and foremost.

However, they do note that they changed DLC functionality with this update. Now, hosts share DLC with their co-op partners, so only the host needs to own the DLC when playing co-op.

You can also see a list of what DLC the host owns and has active from within the lobby, too.

Additionally, they’ve added a failsafe to prevent save data corruption related to DLC. You can no longer load a save file that was made when DLC was installed if you uninstall the DLC.

While still on the topic of co-op, you can now press “ALT” to ping friendly units, neutral units, and the ground in combat. You could only ping enemy units previously, so this is a nice change!

Leaving co-op aside, another notable addition is that the Chinese localization got a sizeable improvement.

Details aren’t clear, though, as the patch notes just state that the localization received a major update. Nonetheless, Chinese native speakers rejoice!

There’s nothing else that can be considered “new” besides these notable changes, however. But there are a lot of fixes, as well!

What’s Fixed?

Truth be told, the official changelog has way too many fixes for us to fully cover here! There are over three hundred (300!) changes listed on the changelog, most of them being fixes.

A notable listed change is that a lot of glitched cutscenes, tutorials, and events are said to be fixed. They should now play properly, with some specific fixes in this area being targeted towards Steam Deck compatibility.

Similarly, there are lots of fixes and changes related to quest progression. A lot of quests have had their objectives’ descriptions changed to be clearer. Meanwhile, other quests got fixes to ensure that they play out as intended.

However, the infamous Act 4 and Act 5 progression bugs seem to still persist for some players. We’ll talk about more about this issue in the next section of this article!

Mechanically, there are some fixes too. Bleeding properly triggers at the start of the affected unit’s turn, and Fresh Wounds no longer progress outside of combat.

There have also been changes to enemy AI. They should now react more properly to certain combat scenarios. In particular, they should no longer cause battles to get soft-locked when running away!

Also, online co-op should be much more stable now, as a lot of de-syncs have been addressed.

The funny Cassia glitch will be missed by some

Mechanics aside, there are also a lot of visual improvements. A large number of items now have new unique icons, and the infamous (but hilarious) Cassia face glitch has been fixed.

There were also some audio changes, such as removing the obnoxious banging sound in the Voidship’s bridge. NPCs also speak louder now during the prologue, and Daemonic Teleportation has a sound effect now.

Also, the “No Stone Unturned” and “Greatest Exploration” achievements have allegedly been fixed. Completionists rejoice, the 100% should now be attainable!

What’s Still Broken?

Sadly, nothing is perfect, especially when it comes to software development. As you can imagine, a lot of bugs and glitches are still present after this patch. Some particularly nasty ones, too!

As mentioned in the fixes section, some users report that they still have game-breaking bugs in Act 4 and Act 5. This persists even after the recent Hotfix 1.0.70 for some, which released after patch 1.0.1.

These bugs can prevent cutscenes from playing properly. Sometimes you miss out on watching them, while other times you’ll actually get soft-locked and unable to progress.

Well, if nothing else, it does mean that Owlcat Games are working on these egregious bugs. For the time being, we highly recommend making multiple saves if you’re near the end of Act 3 and later.

Additionally, some abilities and talents are still bugged. Most infamously, the “Seize the Initiative” talent is still glitched if you have two Officers with the talent in your party.

“Seize the Talent” is meant to give you extra AP in certain situations. However, its current glitches allow you to get infinite turns if you have two or more Officers with the talent…

It’s not the only talent that is currently broken, either. “Psalm of Heroes”, “Doing My Part”, “Point Blank”, and “Inspire” are also currently misbehaving, amongst others.

It’s a shame that some of the issues still persist, considering the game was in Early Access for quite a while before the recent 1.0 launch.

But we can’t be too harsh, honestly. It’s an extremely complex game and the massive 1.0.1 patch was released just one week after the 1.0 launch. We’ll hopefully be hearing about a new patch fixing the most egregious issues before long!
