Ready or Not is finally breaching out of early access, and its 1.0 launch is set to bring a large host of new features to the game.
The key ones are the new campaign mode, revamped AI, and a large host of new missions!
In this article, we’ll go over the big new features and changes coming to Ready or Not with its official 1.0 launch.
New Features Coming With Update 1.0
More Missions
No better way to start this list than by mentioning the new missions that will be added!
Sadly, the developers at Void Interactive are keeping very hush-hush about most of the new missions. We do know, however, about at least five brand new maps and missions.
The first will be “Sins of the Father”, which will take place in a fancy hotel at night. Not much is known, but it’s intended to be a follow-up to one of the missions already in the game.
The second is the “Streamer” map which was teased a long time ago. In this map, a streamer gets swatted as a prank but they also seem to have an illegal cryptocurrency operation.
Third up is the “Coyote” map. This map is a classic mining town, which has your squad diving into the mines in search of hostiles. Not much is known about missions for this map, though.
Fourth on this list, we have the “Beachfront” map, which is a modern fishing village. Just like with “Coyote”, there’s not much info about the missions that happen on this map. Void interactive are such teases!
Last but not least, the highly controversial “School Campus” map is very likely to finally be released with the 1.0 launch. However, it hasn’t been officially confirmed.
On top of all these new maps and their missions, old maps, and missions are also said to receive enhancements and overhauls!
Firearms Improvements
There will be 3 new rifles, 1 new shotgun, 1 new SMG, 1 new pistol, and 1 new Less Lethal Launcher. It’s a large expansion of your squad’s arsenal, but that’s not all!
Some of the older weapons are also getting overhauls. In particular, the H70-MCS breaching shotgun, UMP 45 SMG, MPX SMG, and M45 A1 pistol have been confirmed to receive overhauls.
Additionally, a brand new taser will be added and will replace the old one.
Sadly, though, the exact details of all these overhauls haven’t been made public. We’ll have to wait to get our hands on Ready or Not 1.0 to really see what’s different about these firearms.
We do know, however, that ballistics will also get an overhaul in general. Bullet types will have more realistic damage and penetration across the board.
Lastly, a training Glock 19 pistol and training Mark 18 rifle have been added to the game. These are blue in color and are exclusive to the training range.
Commander Mode
To go alongside the previous points, a brand new Commander Mode is being added. This will serve as the game’s single-player campaign.
You’ll get to be a squad leader and you’ll have to carefully manage your squad to complete various missions.
There will be lots of new mechanics for management of your squad, such as officer permadeath, a roster system, officer therapy, behavioral traits, and even HQ customization.
Furthermore, there will be a set of narrative elements such as calls with officers and worldbuilding materials. All in all, this is certain to be a deep and brand-new game mode!
Revamped AI
To make the single-player campaign even better, the friendly AI has been completely reworked. They now act much more smartly and naturally than ever before, according to the developers.
You can now give commands and change the formations of your squads, as well.
Squad members will now also avoid trampling over detained subjects and will try to carefully peek from the sides of doors instead of standing in the middle.
All in all, there was a lot of work and thought put into making the AI actually behave properly. If the developers at Void Interactive deliver on their promises, this will be a revolutionarily good AI!
To add to all this, there are 12 new voice types for your teammates, with over 18,000 lines of recorded dialogue.
But it’s not just the teammates that got an overhaul, as suspects are also set to receive a rework of their AI to make them act more naturally.
The AI revamp is going to be absolutely essential to making the single-player campaign enjoyable in a game as tactical as Ready or Not.
