What are SMGs?

SMGs or Submachine Guns, are guns that use either pistol calibers or specially designed cartridges for their use. They are meant to be used at full auto or as is more commonly referred to in the gaming world – spray and pray.

The ranking we will provide is based on several factors. These include magazine capacity, rate of fire, attachment slots, and more. Do note that just because a particular gun does not make it to the very top of this list, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. The best gun is that which you are most comfortable with using, whose potential you can maximize to the fullest.

MP9

The MP9 is one of the smallest guns you can use in Ready or Not. Its compact size and number of attachment slots make it one of the best options you can go for when it comes to close-quarters combat.

On the downside, its recoil can be very difficult to control and the caliber (9mm) is often not sufficient against higher-rated body armor. 6/10

SPC

Coming now to the SPC. It is made by the same manufacturer as the previous MP9 (Brügger & Thomet), this gun also uses 9mm rounds. With similar characteristics to the MP9, it also struggles with piercing body armor and recoil.

Incredibly high rate of fire is difficult to control and any recoil management attachments don’t seem to work. 5/10

P90

The P90, developed by FN Herstal in Belgium, is an iconic weapon throughout the world of FPS games. It comes with a 50-round magazine and uses 5.7x28mm cartridges. This weapon was originally requested by NATO as a replacement for the 9mm. It is supposed to have a longer range, more accuracy, and deliver more damage overall.

In Ready or Not, the P90 boasts great mobility, high magazine capacity, and does very well against body armor making this one of the best weapons in the entire game. 10/10

MP5

The MP5, designed by Heckler and Koch, is an iconic German submachine gun used by police agencies throughout the world.

In Ready or Not, it comes with a rail system designed for various attachments, a reasonable magazine size, and a collapsing stock. Its recoil is significantly lower than that of the MP9 or the SPC making this a more viable option for most players. 8.5/10

Do note that the MP5 is slightly longer than the rest of the guns we’ve covered so far, making it more difficult to maneuver and move around.

MP5/10

As you may have guessed, the MP5/10 is a 10mm version of the MP5 SMG. That said, it comes with all the same attachments as its brother although it has more recoil due to its larger caliber. 9/10

UMP 45

As its name suggests, the UMP is chambered at 45 ACP ammunition and it is supposed to be a cheaper version of the MP5. It can carry any attachment you want and has more than manageable recoil, even at full auto.

As is the case with most small-caliber weapons, the UMP 45 SMG struggles to deal with body armor. 7/10

MP7

The MP7 stands as the main competitor to the P90 SMG. It uses 4.6x30mm cartridges capable of dealing with body armor and it has adequate magazine size to complement it.

Its recoil is very manageable and it can carry any attachment you might need on its rail system. 10/10

MPX

The SIG MPX is another popular submachine gun (SMG) used by competition shooters throughout the world. It uses 9mm ammo, however, it makes up for this by being very manageable in recoil, magazine size, and overall mobility. 7/10

MP5A2

Last but not least, we have the Heckler and Koch MP5A2 submachine gun. In Ready or Not, it behaves almost identically to the MP5 mentioned above. 5/10
