One of the main features you’ll see in the Commander mode for Ready or Not is the Officer Traits. Every one of the AI-controller officer squad mates in this mode has a specific trait. There are many different traits, with some of them being nice for survival, while others can make it easier to subdue suspects. Knowing what they all do and how they work is crucial here! So, read on for our full guide on all Officer Traits.
Officer Traits Guide | Ready or Not

First things first, let’s talk about how to actually unlock the Officer Traits. At the start of the campaign and when you hire a new officer, you’ll notice that their trait has a lock symbol on it, as shown above.
These traits start unlocking after you complete 2 missions with the officer in your active squad, but only one officer unlocks at a time. That means it will take a total of 5 missions to unlock all traits for a new squad of 4 officers, for example.
Once unlocked, these will provide a permanent passive effect to your entire squad as long as the officer with the trait is in the squad. In a way, this ends up meaning that you should choose officers in Commander mode based on their traits, as these can be a huge game-changer!
Additionally, some traits can also stack to amplify their effects. That means that, for example, having two officers with the Armorer trait will provide a bigger boost than just one officer. This doesn’t apply to all traits, however, but it’s still worth keeping in mind.
With those basics laid down, let’s go over the effects of every single Officer Trait in the game so you know what they actually do!
List of All Officer Traits

- Armorer – Increases the durability of you and your squad’s armor by 50%. Also increases damage reduction for armor by +5%. Doesn’t stack.
- Breacher – Increase damage to the Morale of civilians and suspects whenever you use any breaching method, such as Battering Rams or kicking doors. This makes them less likely to act out of line. Stacks up to 4 times: +25%, +50%, +65%, +75%.
- Intimidator – Makes it so that civilians and suspects passively take Morale damage whenever they look at you or squad members. Stacks twice: +50%, +100%.
- Kicker – Allows you and squad members to open doors instantly with a single kick. Doesn’t stack.
- Moral Officer – Reduces Stress for your officers whenever you arrest civilians or suspects. Only works if they are alive, not dead or unconscious. Stacks 4 times: +50%, +100%, +130%, +150%.
- Negotiator – Increases the chance of civilians and suspects surrendering on your and your squad’s first Compliance yell. Stacks 4 times: +25%, +50%, +55%, +60%.
- Nutritionist – Increases the Health of you and your entire squad. Stacks up to 4 times: +25%, +30%, +33%, +35%.
- Pacifier – Gives a chance for suspects and civilians to instantly surrender when hit by less-than-lethal ammo and grenades. Stacks up to 4 times: +25%, +50%, +55%, +60%.
- Paramedic – Has a 50% chance to prevent a squad member from being Killed In Action. Instead, they will be Hospitalized so they can recover and resume work. Can stack up to 4 times, with each stack giving a 50% chance to 1 more officer.
- Riot Control – Extends the duration of Stuns from grenades and less-than-lethal ammo dealt by you and your squad. Stacks up to 4 times: +33%, +66%, +75%, +80%.
- S.B.A.G.S – Reduces Stress for your entire squad. Seems not to activate in the Elephant mission. Stacks up to 4 times: -20%, -35%, -40%, -50% Stress.
- Veteran – Improves accuracy and reaction time for the squad. Stacks up to 4 times: +15%, +30%, +35%, +40%.
Officer Traits Recommendations

Now that you know all of the effects of all of the Officer Traits in Ready or Not, we figured we’d finish off this guide with some recommendations.
As you might’ve noticed, the stacking effects have some notable diminishing returns. If you plan to stack a trait, it’s ideal to stick to 2 stacks at most, with the exception of Paramedic. The diminishing returns simply make it more worthwhile to have other traits instead of a 3 or 4 stack of a single one.
Additionally, we highly recommend having 1 Armorer and 1 Nutritionist. The overall boost to your whole squad’s survivability is just too strong and can be a game-changer. This is especially true if you’re still new to the game!
With those two picked up, you have 2 remaining slots that depend on what playstyle you’re going for. For less-than-lethal, we recommend either 2 Pacifiers or 1 Pacifier and 1 Intimidator/Negotiator. For lethal playstyles, we recommend 2 Veterans to make your squad pinpoint accurate.
