Genshin Impact: The Forest and the Princess Guide

“The Forest and the Princess” is one of the new quests you can do in Genshin Impact 4.8.

Help the Princess of the Kingdom of Breezes and Bells complete some trials in the new Simulanka region. She’s sure to reward you handsomely. She might be just a paper flying squirrel, but she’s still royalty!

In this guide, we’ll take you through every step required to complete this long quest and all its trials.

The Forest and the Princess | Genshin Impact 4.8 Guide

To start the “The Forest and the Princess” quest, you have to visit Princess Cimest in the Kingdom of Breezes and Bells. It’s in the center of the Forest of Blessings area of the new time-limited Simulanka map, marked above.

Just approach the Princess and her vassals to watch the cutscene play out. Cimest will ask you to join her for some trials.

Now, go to the spot marked on the map above. You’ll find Princess Cimest there again, just talk to her to start the first trial!

The First Trial

Princess Cimest’s trials consist of you helping her fly through floating garlands. You can “throw” her in one direction by pressing the Attack button while the trial is taking place. After throwing her once, you can press the button again to pull her right back towards you.

Cimest has to go through all the garlands in a group at once, both when flying away and toward you. It’s crucial to pay attention to the glowing lines connecting you and Cimest here. They let you know the trajectory she’ll take when she flies!

Set 1

The first set of garlands is basically a tutorial to let you know how the trials work, more or less. Stand and aim like in the image shown above. Ensure that Cimest passes through all 3 garlands and also touches the flower behind them.

Then, after she flies and pops the flower, a new trio of garlands will appear. Just stand in front of them and call Cimest toward you to complete this first set! You should now understand the basics of how these trials work.

Set 2

To reach the second set of garlands for this trial, use the air currents on the ground to glide. You want to reach the floating island marked above, right before the floral air current.

Once you reach the island, aim Princess Cimest so that she passes the three garlands nearby. She should also end up caught by the air current the nearby flower is releasing.

After Cimest flies, use the current on the ground and jump across to the next floating island.

Stand in front of the floating garlands and summon Princess Cimest so that she flies through them. That’s the second set for the first trial down!

Set 3

This is the last set required for the first trial in the “The Forest and the Princess” quest in Genshin Impact. To start it, reach the floating island shown above.

First, aim Princess Cimest toward the sleeping flower. You won’t be able to hit the flower while going through the garlands at the same time, so just hit the flower and call Cimest back for now.

Now that the flower is awakened and releasing an air current, send Cimest through the garlands and into the current.

Follow Cimest’s flight yourself by using the air currents on the ground to glide alongside her and reach the marked spot.

Reach the final group of garlands and stand in front of it, then call Cimest so that she flies through them. This should complete the first trial for this quest! But we’re still far from done, there are still more trials for the tiny Princess and yourself to overcome.

Second Trial

With the first trial completed, you now have to travel further north in the Forest of Blessings. Reach the spot marked on the map above to meet up with Princess Cimest again. Talk with her to learn more about these trials and start this second trial.

There are only two sets to complete this time, so let’s go over how to beat them!

Set 1

Right after talking with Cimest and starting the trial, turn to your left. Aim Cimest through the garlands while ensuring that she also hits the sleeping flower at the end.

Now, Cimest should be in front of another group of garlands. Try to position yourself on the lower end opposite of Cimest.

Do note, though, that these garlands sway to the sides. Try to lead your target when aiming Cimest or she might miss one of them due to their movement. You’ll be done with the first set once you pass through these, at least!

Set 2

The second and final set for the second trial is right next to where you finished the previous one. Cimest will automatically talk about them and point you in the right direction, even!

Right after Cimest talks about the set of garlands and the flower, tell her to fly toward the closed flower then call her back.

Now, your goal here is to make Cimest fly through the leftmost set of garlands first. The tricky part is that you need good timing because half of the garlands will be swaying left and right. Just like before, try to lead your target while aiming. Cimest should also end up caught by the flower’s current after going through the garlands.

After that, you just need to walk in front of the rightmost group of garlands. Stand in front of them and wait for Cimest to be directly in front of you. Then just call her toward you and she’ll fly through the garlands and complete the trial… but something seems to be amiss. There’s still one more trial to go!

The Final Trial | The Forest and the Princess Guide

You can start the third and final trial for the “The Forest and the Princess” quest in Genshin Impact directly after the second trial. Princess Cimest will appear right next to you, so just talk to her to start the trial when you’re ready.

Do be warned, though, that you’ll face off against enemies for this trial! They’re not too tough, but make sure to have your team ready to take out the hostiles.

Set 1

This set of garlands will spawn right next to you once you start the trial. Both halves are swaying from side to side, but they’re pretty easy to get. Just be patient while aiming Cimest and wait for the right timing to let her fly and you’re done with this one!

Set 2

These garlands will appear right after you clear the previous one. They will be to your right, near the flower.

Stand in front of the leftmost group of garlands and send Cimest flying toward the flower to activate it first.

Now, send Cimest flying through the garlands and toward the air current.

Then position yourself in front of the rightmost group of garlands. They sway to the sides, so wait for the right time to call Cimest toward you as usual.

As soon as Cimest flies through, a new set of garlands will appear but Cimest and the Traveler will be interrupted by a group of Hilichurls. The group of enemies consists of 2 Cryo Hilichurl Grenadiers, 2 Axe Mitachurls, and 1 Hydro Hilichurl Rogue. No time to waste, Traveler, take them all out!

After you defeat the enemies, return to Cimest in front of the final set of floating garlands. She’ll say she can do this one alone and fly through them with ease. All you have to do is follow her and talk with her one last time to complete the quest and get some nice praise from Your Majesty!
