Zenless Zone Zero, being a HoYoverse game, has a lot of items that can be explained in Genshin Impact terms due to their similarities.

There are things like Polychromes being basically Primogems, for example. Not everything has a direct Genshin counterpart, sure. But for those of you who played Genshin Impact already,  it’s a lot easier to get into ZZZ when you think about all the equivalent items and terms.

That’s exactly what we will be explaining in this guide, of course! We’ll break down all of the important items in ZZZ and let you know what’s their equivalence in Genshin Impact.

Zenless Zone Zero Items & Their Genshin Impact Counterparts

  • Attribute Chips = Combat Talent Level Up Material, such as Teachings of Freedom. They come in three different tiers currently and there’s one for each Elemental type. For example, you can use Basic Burn Chips to upgrade a Fire character’s skills.
  • Battery Charge = Resin. The stamina system for Zenless Zone Zero, mostly used when playing Combat Simulation missions for resources.
  • Denny = Mora. The generic currency used in Zenless Zone Zero’s world. Used to pay for upgrades and to buy items from various in-game shops.
  • Drive Disc = Artifact. Items your characters can equip to enhance their various stats. They come in sets and you get special bonuses when using 2 or 4 pieces of the same set at the same time.
  • Encrypted Tape = Intertwined Fate. Used to pull in the time-limited exclusive gacha banners.

  • Residual Signal and Fading Signal = Masterless Stardust and Masterless Starglitter. Special currencies you get from pulling the gacha. Similarly to Genshin Impact, you can use it to purchase various items and characters. Speaking of, we’ve already talked about the importance of saving Residual Energy in Zenless Zone Zero!
  • Investigator Log = EXP Books, such as Hero’s Writ. Used to give your characters a quick boost of experience. They come in three different tiers, just like in Genshin Impact.
  • Master Tape = Acquaint Fate. Used to pull in the permanent standard gacha banner.
  • Monochrome = Genesis Crystal. A premium currency that’s only obtainable through paying with real-life money. Can be exchanged for Polychromes.
  • Polychrome = Primogem. The primary premium currency, obtainable via rewards and events.
  • Power Supply = Enhancement Ore. Used to upgrade your characters’ weapons, known as W-Engines.
  • W-Engine = Weapon. The primary equipment for your character, defining most of their stats.

Important Zenless Zone Zero Items Without Genshin Impact Counterparts

Bangboo | All Zenless Zone Zero Items Explained In Genshin Impact Terms

Aside from the previous list of items with obvious direct counterparts, there are also some very important items that realistically have no Genshin Impact equivalent. These are mostly related to the Bangboo, which is a unique system exclusive to Zenless Zone Zero.

We’ve talked about what the Bangboo are and why they’re important before. But, in summary, they’re a special AI-controlled party member that are unique to Zenless Zone Zero. They have no Genshin Impact equivalent!

Nonetheless, the important items in this category are as follows:

  • Bangboo Systems = Bangboo Level Up Material. Used to level up your Bangboos.
  • Bangboo Chips = Bangboo Artifacts. Special equipable items that can be used to boost your Bangboo’s performance. Really, they’re quite similar to Artifacts for Bangboo!
  • Boopons = Bangboo Gacha Item. Similar to how you would use Master Tapes for standard banners, you need Boopons to roll for the Bangboo banner.
  • Certification Seal = Character Ascencion Material. There are way less of these in Zenless Zone Zero than in Genshin Impact and they’re more straightforward. They come in multiple tiers and are exclusively designated for different Specialties, such as Attack and Stun. If you want to know more about Specialties, we’ve covered them in detail previously.
  • Ether Electrolytes = Special Bangboo Currency. Can be used to increase the limit cap for your Bangboo or exchanged for Bangboo Chips.
  • Higher Dimensional Data = Passive Talent Level Up Material. Can be used to upgrade the characters’ passive skills, known as Core Skills in Zenless Zone Zero. Doesn’t really have a direct Genshin Impact counterpart, however. Can’t level up Passive Talents in Genshin Impact, after all!
