For fans of action RPGs, Wuthering Waves is for sure a must-play. The open-world gacha game manages to combine many iconic mechanics from similar games to create an unforgettable game. While a lot of the game’s features are similar to features in other similar games, they are different enough to make them a bit tricky to understand.
We will be looking at how stamina, characters, and teambuilding work in Wuthering Waves. These are not unique to Wuthering Waves, but they are different in a lot of different ways.
Stamina, Character & Teambuilding Starter Guide
While these features are important, there are tons of other stuff in Wuthering Waves that make the game what it is. Check out the various other guides on our site related to Wuthering Waves to know everything that there is to know.
Stamina
In Wuthering Waves and other similar gacha games, stamina is often one of the most important features to understand. The name for stamina in this game is Waveplates, an in-game currency required to perform a number of different actions.
What differentiates Waveplates from other currencies in Wuthering Waves is that Waveplates automatically generate back over time. You can store a maximum of 240 Waveplates at a time and they fully generate from 0 in 24 hours. So you will essentially be getting 10 Waveplates per hour, or 1 every 6 minutes.
Waveplates are very important, as they can help you level up your characters and acquire valuable loot. There are a total of 5 different ways in which you can spend the Waveplates that you have:
Boss Challenge – 60 Waveplates
Weekly Challenge – 60 Waveplates
Tacet Field Challenge – 60 Waveplates
Forgery Challenge – 40 Waveplates
Simulation Challenge – 40 Waveplates
When starting off, you will want to get the most out of the Waveplates that you have. The best way to do this is by initiating boss fights. These fights will cost 60 Waveplates, but their rewards are extremely worth it. You can always see what you might get from a boss fight before you start it. Use this information and initiate fights that will help your character out the most.
Wuthering Waves can be very addictive at times, and just 240 Waveplates per 24 hours is just not enough sometimes. Thankfully, there are other ways in which you can replenish your Waveplates and get more to spend. Asterite and Crystal Solvent are two consumables that you can consume to replenish a good amount of Waveplates.
Characters
One of the best things about Wuthering Waves has to be all the different characters in the game. The game, at the time of writing, has 20 different playable characters. Other than there being a lot of different characters, a lot of these characters are also pretty strong.
There are 6 different elements or attributes in Wuthering Waves, and all characters belong to one of these elements. The elements are very important in this game, mainly due to the Sonata effects they provide and the Echos that you can access.
All the characters in this game can fill a role in the team that you have. Some characters like Jiyan are going to be there for pure damage and other characters like Verina to provide support. There are also characters that combine the 2 and act as secondary damage dealers. Sanhua is a good example of this as she will provide utility and damage to your team. You can check out our guide on Sanhuafor more information about her.
Using a character that you have unlocked will help you level up that character. As your character’s level grows, they will become stronger and get closer to their maximum potential. There are a bunch of different stats relevant to your characters, and leveling up your characters is the best way to improve these stats.
Teambuilding
The whole gameplay of Wuthering Waves is based on teamplay. Instead of focusing on one character and taking them into battle, you will need to make a team of 3 different characters in Wuthering Waves.
An ideal team in this game will need a good balance in terms of damage and utility. So what does an ideal team look like?
A standard team that you can go for will consist of:
Main DPS – This character will be your team’s main damage. As their primary objective is to just deal damage, you will need characters here who can deal a ton of damage in a short amount of time.
Secondary DPS – Your secondary DPS character will help your team out with a good amount of damage of their own. The damage will not be as good as your main DPS, but a secondary DPS character will also provide your team with a good amount of utility.
Support – Lastly, every team needs a support to give it the perfect balance. Support characters in Wuthering Waves can help your characters heal during combat and they can provide a good amount of damage buffs.
Other than building the right team composition, its also important to understand how to play with your team. You can learn all that you will need to know about combat in this game from our guide looking at the combat system in Wuthering Waves.
