XDefiant: How to Unlock M16A4 Weapon

The M16A4 in XDefiant is easily the most unique assault rifle in XDefiant. While all the other assault rifles in this game are fully automatic, the M16A4 is instead a 3-round burst weapon. This means that every time you press the shoot button, the weapon shoots exactly 3 bullets.

While this might sound like a disadvantage to some people, in a lot of cases it is a massive advantage. Before you can use this weapon though, you must first unlock it. So, how do you unlock the M16A4 in XDefiant?

How to Unlock M16A4 Weapon

To unlock the M16A4 you must get a total of 20 headshot kills with assault rifles. Headshots in XDefiant are the same as any other game, and are basically bullets that hit your opponents heads.

Its important to remember that the challenge requires you to get headshot kills, not headshots specifically. This means that the last bullet you land to kill an opponent needs to be a headshot.

The challenge overall can be pretty difficult, especially for players still learning the game. Your opponents head is much harder to hit than any other part of the body, adding to the challenges difficulty. Like most challenges in this game though, you can get the 20 headshots across multiple games.

How to Complete the Challenge

Firstly, you need to make sure you are using an assault rifle when working on the challenge. If you are just starting out, you can use the M4A1 assault rifle, as it is unlocked by default. Other than having the right weapon, the challenge mainly needs gun skill to complete. Getting headshot kills relies a lot on how good your aim is in XDefiant. If you can consistently land shots to a persons head, it will take you no time at all to finish the challenge.

The biggest skill you should concentrate on is crosshair placement. Having your crosshair at headlevel height will mean that when a person comes in front of you, your aim will always be at their head. This will make it easier to land headshots, as you will not need to move your analog stick or mouse a lot.

Being able to land headshots is also something that can take you from a good player to a great player. So while working towards the challenge, you will also get valuable aim practice.

After you Unlock the Weapon

Like any other weapon in this game, you can unlock attachments by simply playing with the gun and leveling it up. The M16A4 is also a weapon that requires getting used to. It plays very differently to any other assault rifle, and with practice it is as good as any weapon in the game.

Alongside primary weapons like the M16A4, make sure you also unlock other gear in the game. For the best loadout, you need to have the right Devices and secondary weapons to compliment your primary weapon. Unlock all that you can and see what suits you the most.
