Like most weapons in this game, you can unlock the 686 Magnum by completing a specific challenge. The revolver can be unlocked by getting 5 Quick-Swap kills.

Quick-Swap kills in XDefiant are kills you perform shortly after switching over to your sidearm. You don’t have to perform all these kills in the same game, which makes the challenge significantly easier.

The challenge seems easy enough, but there are a lot of players who don’t really like using sidearms in FPS games. Sidearms are generally weaker than primaries, and switching between your weapons in combat will a lot of times lead to your death.

This specific ability allows you to utilize stealth to sneak past enemies and go behind them. This will then allow you to switch to your sidearm when behind opponents, making it much easier to get the Quick-Swap kill.
