The Scavenger Matron Head is one of the rarest items in Enshrouded. This elusive item, as the title suggests, is used to upgrade your Flame Altars from tier 2 to tier 3. Flame Altars, as you probably know by now, are used mainly as fast travel points to make traversing the world of Enshrouded easier.

However, Flame Altars do so much more than that. In this article, we will explain what it is these Flame Altars do, and how to get the Scavenger Matron Head. So without further ado, let’s get started!

Where to Find Scavenger Matron Head

As for the location, you will need to head north to find a large scavenger encampment where the Matron is located. In the screenshot below, you can see the exact location on the map highlighted for your convenience.

Once you get there, there will be a significant amount of lower-tier enemies that you will want to get rid of before engaging their queen.

Do note that for this boss fight, we highly recommend using a ranged or mage build. The Melee build will be in essence very ineffective due to the Matron’s close-range attacks and vomit abilities that deliver killing blows.

Bonus tip: you can bring explosives with you to make a hole in the ground. This will trap the Scavenger Gorger Matron in it. This way you will be free to move around the Matron and keep attacking her while she won’t be able to attack you.

Once you deal enough damage, go ahead and loot the boss’ remains for the Scavenger Matron Head.

Besides being your main fast travel points, Flame Altars serve a multitude of other purposes as well. In this section, we will explain what these are.

Starting off, by upgrading your Flame Altars from tier 2 to tier 3, you increase the Altar Activation Capacity from 4 to 6. The Shroud Passage Level is increased as well from 2 to 3. Character Attribute Bonuses are increased from 1 to 2. Finally, Time in the Shroud is increased from 6 minutes to 7 minutes.

The reason you need to know this is that when you see a red mist shroud, you cannot enter the area yet. You have to upgrade your Shroud Passage Level at your main Flame Altar.

If you happen to go to the Scavenger Matron Boss location and the enshrouded area has a reddish mist, you need to upgrade your Flame Altar first.
