“The Worm Churns” is a somewhat secret quest for the Heretical morality path in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

This quest will task you with destroying some Warp Stifflers, allowing you to unleash the horrors of the Warp.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to activate and complete this heretical quest.

How To Complete The Worm Churns Quest

The Worm Churns Quest Guide in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader

You can only start the Worm Churns quest in Act 3 if you’re following the Heretical path. Additionally, you need to have met some prerequisites in the previous chapters.

You should’ve acquired the Blade Fragments in Act 1 and used them at the Altar in Act 2.

If you’ve done that, a Warp Stifler will appear at the Chasm in Commorragh, in Act 3. Look for a finger-shaped icon that lets you know you can interact with it.

Pink Horror's location

Break the Stifler and you will unleash a Pink Horror, which officially starts the quest! Your first goal is to sabotage the Anatomical Opera.

Now, you’ll need to proceed with the main quest until you gain access to the Anatomical Opera, where you meet Tervantias the Archmachinator.

Complete the fights in the arena until Tervantias gets angered by your win streak, saying that he expected you to die. This will allow you to fully explore the Anatomical Opera at last!

Terminal example

Now, look for three different terminals that you need to interact with to sabotage the Anatomical Opera. They all have a purple dust surrounding them, and their locations are as follows:

  • One is on the leftmost platform, close to the left edge.
  • Another is on the upper right section of the arena, close to a large cage.
  • The last one is by Ulfar’s cage, requiring you to complete a lever puzzle. Use the levers with one character so that another one can walk through the platforms to the left.
    • The correct order for the levers is middle, right, and then right again. You’ll need to move the character on the platform after every lever pull!

Going Back To The Pit

The Pit

Now that you’ve sabotaged the Anatomical Opera, you need to return to the Pit. It’s where you met Malice earlier during the main quest of the game.

You’ll now be able to take control of The Pit and become its leader by killing the Worm there. Do so and then sacrifice your allied Shriekers to The Pit.

Note that, since this is a Heretical quest and all, you’ll need to choose the Heretical dialogue choices to have the Shirekers become loyal to you first.

Release the dust dialogue

Next, go back to the main story quests and complete all arena fights in Commorragh. You’ll be asked to destroy another Warp Stiffler to “release the dust” as soon as you’ve won all of the matches.

Simply choose to release the dust and the “The Worm Churns” quest will complete!

Additionally, you can further commit to your Heretical path after the quest by choosing to “Pray to the gods of the warp” when you reunite with Tervantias.

But was it all worth it, Heretic? Guess you’ll find out once you head into Act 4…
